Very disappointed…
We chose Sweet Pea's to host our family dinner after my mother and step father's marriage. Prior to this event, my mother made arrangements ahead of time with the amount of people that would be attending. We had a section set for 35. However, we had a few more guests to arrive that did not RSVP which my mother confirmed (prior to the event) would not be a problem and overflow could occupy seats near us in another part of the restaurant.
We had ONE server for a group of 40 people. When our food arrived, our waitress had ZERO help until I got up and helped her distribute the food. She also asked for my assistance with the drink orders.
I have no idea where management was. It was like the staff did not care and our waitress was not friendly. Her frustration was evident and her attitude was horrible. She didn't even say "thank you" when I got up to assist her. Where was the rest of the staff? A few other waitresses appeared when we were checking out. There were 3 registers at the counter. Only one person was working a register and we all had to stand in a long line waiting to checkout while the rest of the staff just stood around and watched.
I am shocked and appalled this place of business would treat guests this way. In fact, with a party this large, one would expect a little more courtesy and consideration for this life celebration. We are paying customers JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. And, to top it off, we were assessed a “take out” charge in addition to 20% gratuity. I understand the gratuity due to the size of our party, but what was the take out fee for?
I will never step foot in this restaurant again and will make it my personal mission for everyone to know how you treat "certain" guests. Not a welcoming...
Read moreThe three stars here is more of an average of scores and not a rating, and quite frankly generous.Today was the first time my family and I had eaten here, and to be honest, it will probably be the last. Let’s start with the positives: the waitress was phenomenal, bless her heart even when I sent my food back she was polite, respectful, and maintained a sweet disposition and professional demeanor, she came around the table and made sure we didn’t need anything and kept our glasses filled. My son’s grilled fish was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly, however, I ordered the hamburger steak- and the cook had burned it to a crisp (it was solid as a rock and tasted like the bottom of a grill) they covered it in burned onions and canned mushrooms with cold brown gravy. Why would you serve that? Do people actually eat it and not complain? Do you not have standards? I can honestly say in my 41 years of life, I have sent my food back to the chef only one other time ever. It was that bad. I will just cut off, scrape off, eat around, or try and stomach things instead of sending things back, but this was truly awful. I spent over a hundred dollars in this place for my family to sit down and eat today and honestly it wasn’t worth half of that. My children LOVE macaroni and cheese and they all ordered it and every single one didn’t finish it, they didn’t like it... we go to a Chinese buffet and they will eat their soupy Mac and cheese. To anyone reading this, I recommend taking your money and going to Dale’s, Cracker Barrel, or another “country style” restaurant and avoid this one. To my waitress, thank you for your sweet spirit and...
Read moreWe were there on Friday night 4/13, there were 9 in our party this week! In fact we are there just about every Friday night with anywhere from 6-20 in our party! It was one of our guest birthdays, so I had brought him a cake!! We places our order, with appetizers, when the server (not our waitress), brought them to our table, I ask for plates and ranch dressing and she very rudely said your waitress will have to get them, well our waitress was busy waiting on other tables, so I walked up to station and ask another waitress for some plates and ranch for our squash, she nicely responded, let me finish this order and I will get them, in the meantime another waitress (whom I wish I knew her name, cuz we had her before and was not nice to us at all, party of 16 that night) came out of kitchen and ask if she could help me, I said yes mam I need 7 plates please, she goes back in kitchen and comes out with them and said "they will be a $1 each", I said excuse me, she said again, they will be a $1 each, I said I don't think so, she said if u are eating dessert they will be, I said they are for our squash appetizer, that our waitress didn't bring our plates yet!! I find that to be very disappointing that y'all would try to charge us for a plate to eat birthday cake on!! When our waitress came to clear off plates and she knew we were fixing to eat cake, she offered to bring us clean plates to eat from and NEVER mentioned the $1!!! In fact we even gave her some cake!! That is a good way to loose some every week customers, and I will tell you if we come back, she will never be our...
