I grew up in Olpe and we went to the Chicken House many Saturday nights to eat. I personally love their chicken. My husband loves their Rib Eye steaks. I like their salads because they are not in giant chunks that you can hardly get into your mouth. My brother has moved up towards Kansas City, and still he and his family still drive down quite often...just to eat at the Chicken House. The Chicken Fried Steak, Shrimp, Ham Steak, cheese balls, zucchini spears, fried okra and onion rings are all family favorites. We have relatives who always ask to go to the Chicken House when visiting. We offer all of the other eating establishments in Emporia, but they all choose the Chicken House and say it is one of the things they look forward to most when visiting. KFC is okay, but when giving a choice between the two, I would definitely choose the Chicken House. Friendly Family Dining... nothing fancy... nothing spectacular... just yummy delicious home-cooked flavor at reasonable prices without the mess and time to fix it myself. I give them 5 stars for a small town family friendly restaurant. We would sure miss them if they...
Read moreThey Don 't give me the option for more than five. Renee and I took out kids a grandkids and our son-in-law to Olpe Chicken House. Our children had eaten there with Renee and I quite a few years back. This business has without a doubt the" BEST CHICKEN IN KANSAS" If you have never been there it is worth the trip. It is located approximately 10 miles south of Emporia. I have eaten Popeyes Chicken, and KFC, they are good but Olpe Chicken House chicken is as close to "Moms" home fried chicken and you can get. I am sure they use a broader to fry it but they have to cook a lot of chicken and would not be able to do it on a skillet, plus the don't use a bunch of breading. I dislike being so far away from there but I will definitely be back. Also our server was very friendly, and smiling and helpful and because of that I left her a nice tip. The only thing I did not like is if or when you use a credit card there is an added charge. Thank You for The Memories and hope you stay in...

Every visit is a pilgrimage back in time. The chicken is nothing short of legendary. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, it’s a masterpiece that rivals any I’ve tasted across the country. From the sides to the desserts, every menu item is a home run. The service is consistently warm and friendly, reflecting the small-town charm that permeates the entire experience.
On my most recent visit, seeing familiar faces who've been there for over four decades was icing on the cake. It's a testament to the restaurant's enduring appeal and the loyalty of its staff.
If you're ever in the area, do yourself a favor and make a stop at the Olpe Chicken House. You won't be...
