Lakeside Oasis — Restaurant in Onalaska

We had the opportunity to dine here over a four day period. We are from the Spring area near the Woodlands, were not fancy but we enjoy many fine meals out. The service each time was excellent, the wait staff was cheery and attentive. They have just opened recently and are modifying their menu almost daily, adding new dishes, not removing dishes. I think this is a great approach, trying a dish as a "Special" to see how it is responded to is a very sound idea. We had the smoked chicken, very well prepared, fully smoked, crispy skin and exceeding moist, cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The potato salad is EXCELLENT, new red potatoes the right amount of mayonnaise, I detected a little dill herb but not overbearing and celery. Light and refreshing when most potato salads are on the heavy side, simply delicious! The pork sliders were also excellent, moist smoke pork butt not over seasoned or swimming in sauce, very well prepared. Our Grandson had the loaded fries that came with shredded cheddar cheese, bacon and piled well with pulled pork. He had it for lunch then again for dinner! The hamburgers we perfect, very well smoked, cooked to our order and well dressed with fresh tomato, bacon and crisp lettuce and onions. The pickles tasted home brined and delicious. We really enjoyed the cheesecake, they prepare it themselves and please do not leave without trying it and one of their toppings. It is New York style and just perfect. This restaurant needs to be patronized and nurtured, we hope it has a long and successful life. We are coming...

We are from out of town and thought this looked like a great little place to have lunch with our kids. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We ordered and everything seemed great, although they were missing quite a few items and we had to change up our oldest daughters food to something else.

It took over an hour to get our food and it wasn't even busy when we were there, so I am not sure why it took that long. When we finally got our food all of it was bone cold. The only hot thing was the Fried Okra. Fries were unsalted and flimsy. Mac and cheese was horrendous. Shrimp was good. Chicken was dry and the skin was soggy. Sweet potato fries were great.

My oldest daughters food didnt come out for another 20 or so minutes.

Server/manager was kind and offered to comp part of our meal and gave my kids ice cream on the house.

But when I got the check..it was still over $100. I read through it and we were charged for 2 meals we didn't even order. So "comping" some of our meal meant tacking on an extra $30 or so dollars for food not ordered to seemingly "make up for what they lost".

When I brought up needing to remove some items, our server/manager was in the back office and was "busy", but gave authorization to another server to check us out. I made her remove those extra items.

I still tipped by the way...but not sure we should have paid as much as we did still.

Unfortunately, it was a wasted afternoon and I wish we had just gone...

Wow !!! This great food! You must try Sarah’s pecan Cheesecake and the portions are amazing , and the drinks are mixed with love .Man this place is wonderful I sat by the lake and watched the cranes in the water and had some great drinks.The food is phenomenal,and Sarah is a fabulous cook! Telll me you are tired of the old fashion hum drum stuff because this is the real deal pal .I wanted to try it out.As I watch the sunset on the water and eat this phenomenal food. I am so relaxed the atmosphere is so positive and what a combination.the Spices are just right in all the diches The lake the food the drinks it’s it’s fabulous here so , if you wanna impress that person who’s eating at the junk food places , don’t not even the same it’s not in it it’s not in that category it’s 1000 times better. This is just amazing. I’ll always eat someplace else cause I’m from another part of Texas , but I’ll always think about Sarah’s cooking .just can’t tell you you’ll be so happy when you leave you’ll just want to come back and if he eats someplace else it will not be the same.
