I used to love this place until my parents had explained to me the experience they had with the rude owner(s). We have come here many times in the past pre-Covid and never had issues. Food was mediocre, but it’s diner food so really what do you expect? The problem was the owner’s wife who walks around like a shark in the restaurant making customers feel uncomfortable (doesn’t even bother to friendly interact with anyone or try to make connections, just straight surveillance and unwelcoming type vibe). We ordered our entrees with the waitress who we didn’t have a problem with and got the salad bar which uniquely has chicken wings. We got some chicken wings (not many because we didn’t want to fill up on that) and salad. We were eating and the owners wife is circling around like a shark still making us feel like we are doing something wrong. Then we get our entrees, we eat, no big deal. Food was alright. We had leftovers so we asked for boxes to take home and we had a few pieces of chicken left that we were also just going to take home and eat. They have been sitting at our table part eaten and some untouched due to us getting our entrees before we could eat them and the owner’s wife sends the waitress to come tell us (the waitress told us it wasn’t coming from her mouth) that we can’t take it home despite that it’s already on our table with our bite marks in it. I get that if it would equate to a whole entree or if it was an excessive amount but it’s literally on our plates already and we took a bite out of it. You really want us to waste food that WE paid for rather than just let us take it home? We have been loyal customers to this place and never did that before but to be told that in such a rude way by the owner (not the waitress) is uncalled for. The owners care more about money than customer satisfaction. Sad, you know why? Because they lost a whole lot of profit from a loyal family/customer due to, what, maybe $4 worth of chicken wings? These people are clowns. There are more tactful ways of handling situations than the way that was handled and they could’ve said you can take it this time but generally we don’t allow people to pack up dood from the salad bar.
There are more friendly and reasonable diners in the area such as Route 61, 5th Street Diner, Temple Diner or Crossroads Diner that won’t insult you. It’s interesting I read other reviews who also had issues with the owners. Maybe the owners should reevaluate their goals and how to maintain a business and customer...
Read moreWe have been here many times, would consider ourselves to be good customers and support our local businesses. Tonight we went in and had two horrible meals. My husband had pot roast, took one bite and spit it out in a napkin. I ordered a patty melt, and after it was delivered I kept looking to see who had ordered fish as the smell was offensive. When I opened the sandwich ( as I can't eat much bread so was going to stack the meat and just eat one slice of bread, I realized that the smell was coming from the onions. They were rancid. We sent the food back and asked the waitress to please charge us for the salad bar and drinks as he had partaken of them. However, when we got to the register, the owner was waiting for us to show up! He was infuriated. Told us repeatedly (and loudly) that "he knows what he is doing!" And then thrusting the plates of returned food t us that he had kept ready for his big scene!! Said "how could we return the food when we hadn't even tried it!" My husband said he had tried it...and pointed out the missing piece of meat... I open the sandwich and showed him where I had indeed cut into mine. He continued to berate us (loudly) in front of a restaurant full of people and basically called us liars! 1. We didn't come in and order dinner that we didn't intend to it. This was a restaurant that we had frequented before. 2. We were more than willing to pay for what we ate. 3. What happened to respect for your customers? 4. No one likes to be belittled and called a liar! 5. We were forced to pay full price (almost $40.00) for two dinners we had sent back. Neither the owner or managers ever came to us and asked what was wrong with our meals. They forgot that the customer is the one that has to like the food... not the guy who produces it. If I could give this restaurant a zero I would. Just intolerable in...
Read moreThe French toast tasted like it was made on a dirty grill. The bacon tasted and felt as if it was left over from last night and simply reheated. The eggs were served cold and flavorless. Upon reporting this to the cashier, the owner, who was standing behind her, blamed me. I stated that I was a former short-order cook, which I was. Breakfast was my specialty. He said, "well, that's the problem". Still don't know what that means. Maybe it's that my standards are too high for his restaurant. And, after just having heard another customer right before me complain about their meal, he stated to me that he's never heard these things before from anyone. He is an arrogant, narcissistic schmuck. Don't go here. EVER.
An afterthought. . . Even if everyone else's food was awesome, and I was the only unhappy customer, which I wasn't, would you still want your money going to an owner a that reacts like that? Anyone who would blame the customer for having a bad meal, and accept no ownership on themselves or their staff, is the same kind of man who will shortcut everything else in the restaurant. So if you don't mind taking your health into your own hands, then this is the place for you. If, however, you prefer to dine somewhere that your experience and your health is the primary concern, then I would suggest avoiding...
