One of the great things about the South is the diners in small towns. I happened upon this one as I was headed to FL to visit with friends for the weekend. I ordered the meatloaf special with field peas, mashed potatoes and gravy, half and half sweet tea, cornbread, and banana cream pie for dessert. I was extremely disappointed. It was an absolute first with southern diners. The meatloaf was A LOT of large chunks of bread and ketchup and very little meat. The field peas (they weren't field peas) were honestly cold. The potatoes weren't "real" and the gravy was from a packet. The cornbread had too much sugar for my taste, and the banana cream pie was mediocre. The tea was good. The lady in the booth in front of me even complained about the meatloaf having more bread than meat. I don't know if the cook was having a bad day or what, but I won't be back.

Simple country diner. Friendly service. I had the catfish with mashed potatoes and slaw for my two sides. The service was slow, but they are understaffed, so that was expected. The catfish and slaw were great, the potatoes tasted like boxed potatoes. My roll tasted like it was spoiled. My iced tea was fresh and delicious. My husband was less enthusiastic about his beef with gravy. He had a side salad that he enjoyed. We both enjoyed the tiny slice of cheesecake for desert, which was plenty for me (I am not much of a desert eater). The portion sizes were sufficient. There is a sign outside that says the restaurant is for sale. They seem to be struggling. There aren't many restaurants in this area, so I hope they find a good buyer and are able to continue service to this community.

I walked into the country kitchen looking for a meal other than a hamburger with fries on the side; I come to find a cozy, genuine diner known for it's inexpensive breakfast options ( Daily Special 2 eggs any way and biscuit or toast) and quick and easy lunch and dinner choices; lest not forget the ever bright spirit of our waitress Tammy. Its a pure shame they only have one on tables most of the time; especially Mondays.

I ordered the grilled chicken potato with onion rings. The first was basically a baked potato with peppers, sauntered onions, grilled chicken and topped with melted american cheese. While possibly high in cholesterol the serving size wasn't enormous which made the perfect one stop meal just as much as tasty as its country flavor. As for the onion rings, they were stacked in a numerous portion and I could say could take care of one really hungry man or two customers at once, and with a side of bar b que for dipping it made an awesome treat for dinner and possibly a one stop lunch in the future.

By the time I left I was sleepy and full all at once with a genuine smile on my face. I hope to see more diners like Country Kitchen later on down the road, and would recommend to anyone looking for a quick bite to eat as well as good southern...

Awful! My husband and I came in during downtime(there were only two other customers in besides us) so you would think we would be served quickly. Instead we waited 45 minutes for a burger, chicken strips and a grilled cheese. My husband says the burger was good but my chicken strips were the kinda strips you get for 2.99 at Walmart for an entire bag. Disgusting! The grilled cheese was cold and my two year old wouldn't even eat it. The cook was really nice, waitress was ok not great.

Edit: to respond to owner- the slip would show the time we ordered to the time we paid which is a little longer than 45 min. That's not counting the time we sat before the waitress actually took our order. So you've proved my point in how long it took for our food to come out. Not to mention I posted a picture for everyone to see the awful chicken. Your response could use a little customer service advice. Especially since I only come back when Google notified me that the picture I added was viewed close to 4000 times.. that's a LOT...
