Overall, a good place to go if looking for something a little different (seafood/cajun mexican). Went on a Monday for lunch, got sat immediately.

Location: found by GPS. In the country club area towards the back. Private parking lot but I can see it filling up easily.

Atmosphere: very open and the walls are completely covered with music/pop culture Memorabilia. Music playing, but not too loud. Tables & booths available. This is a good place for a small or large group! There is an automatic gratuity for groups of 6 or more!!

Service: we have been twice- once was really bad, second time was good. First time, our waitress was not very knowledgeable of the menu, gave us the wrong food (appetizers & dishes) & wanted us to pay for both even though we immediately told her it was wrong. Second time was better (different person). Friendly, a little unattentive & long waits for items, but overall good.

Food: a variety of options from your typical Mexican (enchiladas, fajitas, tacos) to cajun (gumbo, alligator tacos, hushpuppies, etc.). chips are not automatically provided at this place- you have to order/pay for them but they are seasoned chips! I ordered the steak fajitas & they were good- no complaints but also nothing different from your standard. My husband got the alligator tacos & absolutely loved them! We actually came back the 2nd time just so he could get these alligator tacos again. My brother got the seafood enchiladas & enjoyed them & the portion was huge!

Price: a little on the pricey side but not horrible. For two entrees, 1 drink, it cost about $40.

Overall, a good option. A little different from your typical Mexican flare. Enjoyed the cajun options and the large open space. We would return! There is also a location in Lake Charles on Ryan Street but no alligator...

I have eaten here 3 times and only once had a good meal. The 1st time eating there and the problem was the gumbo was served with some very hard rice, we were told the rice was from the day before! Well thanks for the old rice! But they did bring new bowls of gumbo. The 3rd time was today for lunch with my husband, our daughter & our son-in-law. The server who brought our food to the table (not our waitress), almost dumped my daughter’s gumbo onto her lap, thankfully she responded quick enough and it went on the seat, but he didn’t really show much remorse or concern for what could have been a really bad day for our daughter. My husband & I ordered the shrimp poboys, the lettuce was so wet that the bread was mush before I/we could even pick it up to take a bite. Our server today was great and tried to make it right, the wait staff has always been the best. I just don’t understand how they have such good reviews on the food. And they never offer the guest a refund or percent off or anything for their bad...

I would like to have sat on the patio, but the hostess had other ideas, and to be honest, she intimidated me a little. So we sat inside. I had a cup of the gumbo and a side of potato salad. Apparently, that's a thing. (the waitress brought me the potato salad so I could try it.) I don't get it. The gumbo was pretty good, but I would like for it to have been a little thicker and a little spicier. My son had the shrimp po'boy. It was very generous and very cheesy! And very rich! He could barely finish it. Which if you knew my son, you'd know that's saying something. I had the shrimp tacos. They were also very generous. They were very well prepared and very good. There was nothing surprising about the tacos, nothing unusual, just good solid fare. FWIW, the bucket of crawfish looked interesting. If I lived close by I'm sure I'd try them (with cold beer on a weekend.) If you have a chance, check this place out.

I drive from New Orleans to Texas regularly and was looking for a fish place. We went to Tia Juanita's in Orange, TX (right on the TX-LA border) and what a find. The "mexicajun" food was delicious. I had the boudin quesadilla - yummmmm. My son had the fried fish with french fries - exactly what he wanted. I had to ask what kind of fish - it was catfish. The service was superfast and the food was piping hot. The menu is expansive. Decor is movie posters and fish camp stuff, lots to look at. Our server was very attentive and did not flinch when I asked for a go cup for my water. Not far off the interstate, it is in a residential neighborhood connected to a community golf course. Restroom was clean and spacious.

Improve employee hygiene! Ordered takeout from Tia Juanita's and found a hair in my food. Completely ruined the meal. Manager offered a replacement but I wasn't about to waste time driving back to the restaurant she should've just said she would refund the whole amount! Why if someone ordered take out and found hair in their food or anything wrong with their food want to come all the way back to the restaurant to get more food that probably would have hair in it too ? Make it make sense! It's all about money with these businesses! Instead of taking accountability they just skate around it. Disgusted and disappointed-- now I remember why I stopped eating here… won't ever be back. (photo attached)
