I can genuinely say that this restaurant was the ultimate spot to recharge after a 6-mile hike—refreshing, delicious, and simply fantastic.
We kicked things off with the Cowboy Corn Bites, which reminded me of jalapeño poppers but with a sweeter and milder twist. They disappeared quickly from our table, especially with Thunderbird's signature sauce, a creamy and tangy delight that’s perfect for dipping anything fried.
For my main course, I chose fettuccini alfredo, and even though I typically shy away from pasta, it was just what I needed to revive my energy. The fettuccini was cooked to perfection, the sauce was rich and flavorful, and the generous layer of cheese on top was a real treat.
To finish our meal, we indulged in the Thunderberry and Rhubarb pies, which were absolutely delightful. The crust was wonderfully flaky, the filling was packed with flavor, and the temperature was just right to melt the ice cream that you must have alongside it.
Overall, this restaurant quickly became one of my favorites during our trip out west. Their extensive menu is thoughtfully designed for those looking to refuel after a tough hike. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food was simply out...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped for lunch and pie and were really impressed. Ed was our waiter and he was fantastic!!! You could tell he took pride in his work and cared about providing a good experience to everyone. He recommend a couple things to us and we ended up getting the Road House burger. It was fantastic! After we were done with lunch we asked what 2 pies we should get and he said they were all good but he helped us decided on the Thuderberry pie and the Strawberry Rhubarb pie with ice cream. Both were sloot good. As he came to pick up the bill I paid he opened it and said did you not see the pen that was in there that you signed the bill with? I said i didnt notice it. He handed it to me and laughed as I read it and then he walked away after thanking us for coming in. Leaving me with a souvenir pen that said, This pen was stolen from Ed at Thunderbird restaurant. 🤣 Overall it was a great stop and good experience. If you are driving through make sure to get some good here and hopefully you will have Ed as your server. If you see this post Ed, thank you for your...
Read moreI had been at this restaurant previously but only to the gift shop as the dining room had a long wait. Fast forward a year, and I'm back in the area, so my friend and I happily stopped. We both ordered the daily special - 10 oz Ribeye, baked potato, and vegetable medley for $35. Salad bar was added for $2 each. The salad bar was great; small selection but fresh. The potato was perfect. The vegetables were tasty, but cold. Unfortunately, the ribeye left more than a lot to be desired. It was not marbled, but instead contained large sections of fat as well as a lot of gristle (as the picture shows what had to be cut from the edible part of the meat). When the bill was presented and I was asked about the meal, I showed her my plate (see picture) and let her know both of us had the same meat experience. The server apologized and went to speak with the manager. The resolution given was 10% off the cost of the two meals - basically $7 off a bill of approximately $90. I...
