Visited this great restaurant with a group of friends. It was a wonderful experience.
The place is a farm that grows and sells its produce and uses them in their restaurant. It’s a cool experience.
First, the store is pretty cool. Lots of great fresh vegetables and local goods.
The ambiance of the restaurant was low key. Tables are socially distanced and there’s lots of ventilation. Good, safe space. The large pizza oven sits at one end of the room. There is nothing pretentious here.
The service was friendly and efficient.
The table enjoyed two salads. First they are huge! These salads are to share unless you want to make a meal of them. I shared a romaine, tomato and peppers salad with a buttermilk dressing and crushed croutons . It was one of the best salads I’ve ever eaten! The GTF salad had a nice mix of greens and endive with a light, delicious dressing. Another hit.
We enjoyed the margherita, veggie (broccoli, tomato and sweet onion) and Blanca (white) pizzas. All were great with a thin, tasty crust. A small is enough for two people.
I had a roast chicken dish with Israeli cous-cous and an eggplant puree. It was really excellent with one caveat - the chicken (while tender, juicy and tasty) was VERY salty. Perhaps it was brined. I’d strongly suggest less salt. I had to stop eating the last piece because of excessive salt.
My wife and another friend had the pan seared albacore tuna and found it super tasty and perfectly cooked (seared outside, raw inside). It was served with pickled peaches, fennel, peppers and lobneh (whatever that is). It was really tasty with a hint of spice.
For dessert we shared a cheesecake with macerated peaches (really sliced). I’m told it was good but not special.
If you're in Corvallis make a reservation and have dinner here. You won’t be...
Read moreHad a great dinner here while visiting Oregon. This is a farm to table restaurant and the farm is on the property. The menu changes depending on the produce they have. We visited during tomato and corn season and I'm so glad we did as those are 2 of my favorite veggies. If you go you must get the lemonade. I had the blackberry lemonade and my husband had the basil lemonade. Both were great, but if you're more of a sweets person I would get the blackberry. I ordered the sweet corn and tomato soup as an appetizer and it had 3 flavor profiles. The main flavor was smokey, but with a bit of sweet and spicy. It was absolutely delicious. The sweet corn and tomato pizza was unlike any other pizza I had. The corn was deliciously sweet and the tomatoes tasted unlike anything you could get in the store. The crust was crispy and soft at the same time. Margarita pizza was a classic and you can't go wrong with that. The chicken was perfectly crispy and juicy and everything blended well on that plate with the corn, sauce, green beans, and peppers. The dessert, while delicious, didn't really stand out. We ordered the apple turnover and it was definitely good and the apples were fresh and juicy, but it didn't wow me. The service and atmosphere are great. All the staff is friendly and they are very knowledgeable...
Read moreThe restaurant has been my go-to place for a few years, especially during summer times and when hosting good friends. However, today I think I just had the worst experience by far, it's not because of the food, but due to the very very poor service. We sat down after about 25mins wait which is fine since we didn't know they started to take reservations. We waited for ten mins for the waitress to show up and take our drink order, all of us ordered house coffee, then another 15mins for the coffee to arrive. During the whole meal, the waitress didn't asked even once if we need coffee refill or anything. It's only when she brought the check and asked if we needed dessert, so we requested to have coffee refilled, again it took another 10mins for her to bring the coffee. And, we were asked to leave the table 2 minutes after the refill.
Since I've been a loyal customer for at least 4 years and I've never experience such service before, we tried to put ourselves into her shoes, to think that she might have a busy day, however, I just noticed that other tables were being checked on way more frequently than ours and food was served way faster. And yes, we are a group of colored.
Very disappointed, 2 stars for the food, will not come back again. And will not recommend it to...
