Many pizza restaurants offer a convenient meal with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Ivy Bear is no ordinary restaurant - it is a tantalizing and gut-fulfilling experience akin to the Bear's first meal as the critter emerges from hibernation.

My ski/snowboard companions and I were returning from an adrenaline-fueled day on the slopes. Needless to say, we were famished and seeking a hearty meal before we each retreated to our dens for a deep slumber. What awaited us exceeded the expectations of the belly and the soul.

Upon arriving, we were greeted by a 20-foot Bear statue that is cloaked in ivy, which graces passerbys on Highway 26 (some say it is the largest bear statue in the world). Upon entering the pizzeria, our senses were elated by the deluge of Bear murals, Bear carvings, Bear statues, Bear photos, Bear trivia, and of course, pizza. Our gracious host, Eddie, serenaded us with first-rate service. Eddie shared the lore of Ivy Bear, described the locally sourced pizza ingredients, amused us with his Bear impersonation (costume), and even demonstrated how to successfully play virtual jump rope.

I offer my highest recommendation for the region's foremost Bear/pizza establishment. Complete with scrumptious pizza and garlic/cinnamon knots, outstanding service, and remarkable Bear atmosphere, the Ivy Bear is Oregon's hidden treasure.

*Please note - Ivy Bear's operations do not exploit or harm any bears. This local institution celebrates the almighty Bear and crafts...

Guy Fieri needs to come here!!!

There is this amazing pizzeria at the foot of Mt. Hood in Oregon, (54735 US-26 Sandy Oregon 97055). The town is small, and Scott should be in a larger arena where he can be seen and valued by many. Scott is the owner, and he has served his community with a large heart and passion for his vision for over 10 years. When we walked in, he greeted us with the best smile, the most passion and heart for his pizza and his ingredients. For someone who makes his own meats, seasonings, pepperoni, habanero sausage, beer, root beer, cream sodas, other sodas, candy bar, and more, this is beyond delicious! Did I mention he has also built and programmed his own computer program that feeds from his inventory to his menu selections for billing? -now that's cool!

The pizza flavors were off the hook, homemade, and fresh sliced vegetables and not overly salted. The service, the friendliness, the food, the fresh toppings, and everything are created in-house. Oh, did I mention his garlic knots will "punch you in the face with garlic," as Scott describes, with a smile on his face when he describes his work.

This place is terrific! Come, see and enjoy! Help put...

Although we've driven past Ivy Bear a gazillion times over the years, today was our first time ever going inside. We've been missing out! We wanted somewhere to meet with family so our neices and nephew could open gifts from Christmas and a couple birthdays (we haven't seen them in a while). Eddie is who I spoke with when I called for more info last week. He was so nice and accommodating even just on the phone. When we got there today he was warm, welcoming and kind. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time and we certainly did!! He even brought out a sweet treat for the kids and visited our table with his bear costume on! The kids loved it and so did the adults! Great food, cold beer, tasty wine and a super comfortable atmosphere. Need I say more? Ok, I will. There's games and activities for the kids, plenty of room to roam, cool photos and historic items all over. Friendliest guy in town- Eddie! We will absolutely be back!!!!! Thanks Eddie and Ivy Bear for making this such a great experience. PS. Sorry about the fart machine, but best gift ever for a 9yr old...

Editing to add, after going back and getting a partial refund for the rest of the pizza( had to feed our 5 kids something), Im still disappointed after the gal explained that because of our large order of 4 pizzas she had to pull a tray of dough and it was too hot in the kitchen so it must have made our pizzas turn out this way. If we had just been told hey the pizzas had an issue and been remade, we would have been more than happy to wait, but instead were sent home with pizza that never should have left the kitchen. Extremely disappointed. We've been coming here for years and were so stoked to get our pizza that we only get to have once or rwice a year when we come to the mountain only to get home and find this. The guy that runs it has always been amazing( even gave my kids a gaming chair the last time we were there) . But this is not acceptable. I paid alot of money expecting a quality that we have come to know. The pizza has always been full of toppings with an amazing crust. This is Not cool

Ivy Bear is as much a staple of Mt. Hood as Timberline Lodge itself. Located the perfect distance between the mountain and town, a visit to Hood is incomplete without a stop at this distinguished congenial culinary gem of an establishment. Ivy Bear will leave you full, satisfied and remind you that this area is a very special corner of America. First off, the garlic knots are unquestionably the best west of the Mississippi. Actually scratch that, best in the world—not an exaggeration. The staff will pour you a frosted mug of Boneyard with the PERFECT head that will make you never want to drink another kind of beer. The folks that work here will make you feel like family. And turns out they have super powers—they will bring you an extra side of ranch before you even realize you want it. One of Oregon’s finest, if it was possible to give this place 6/5 stars that still wouldn’t be enough!
