Finally a break in the weather. Looking forward to a great lunch. 1st visit ever and short distance from home. Lots of parking. 1st clue was that the interior of the restaurant was a little dated, some of the padded chairs were cracked and the stuffing could be seen. The exterior grounds were impeccable. The staff were gracious and quickly sat me next to the window which was clear and clean. My waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. I did not see the item I wanted on the menu but she stated that it was a dinner menu item that could be prepared. I ordered the Mac and cheese with blackened chicken. The order arrived very quickly and I immediately was visually underwhelmed. It was a bowl of small elbow macaroni and cheese sort of swimming in a watery sauce with a sliced chicken breast on top. There was a typical sliced average garlic toast slice also served. The chicken breast was overcooked and dry. Not moist.the seasoning was average blackening seasoning that didn’t stand out. The pasta was cooked correctly and temperature was good. The sauce was bland and watery. I sat in peace and did enjoy the surroundings but only ate about 1/3 of my meal. The charge for this was $17.99. I will take the remainder home. I will cook down some mushrooms, onions. Add some blackened shrimp and sliced sausage of my own. Add some cheeses blend it with the leftovers and bake it then it might be what I’m wanting… I was really hoping to find a place that had a good baked pasta full of flavor and ingredients that had lots of cheeses and was baked with a crust on it. Some restaurants present their Mac and cheese in that manner. I guess I just have to keep looking. Will I go back? Maybe. It’s convenient but I can make a better Mac and Cheese at home going to the grocery store and buying a Resers Fine Foods Mac and Cheese package for $5.00 and broiling a nice tender creole chicken breast myself at home then adding the other ingredients and baking it until it bubbles and browns. Anyway I think for $17.99 Langdon Farms can do better than this on this specific dish. Addendum: the website menu shows this meal priced at $14.99 which also included a salad or soup which I was...
Read moreMy wife and I love good prime rib. Unfortunately, over the years we've notice that prime rib isn't very good. It might be how they feed the cattle these days. I called Langdon Grill ahead and asked the manager about the quality of their prime rib. He assured me that it was excellent. We went there for prime rib night. When we ordered, the waitress asked us if we wanted chives, cheese or bacon bits for our baked potato. It sounded good so we said yes. When our dinner was served, we needed extra butter for our potatoes. We sat there for probably 10 minutes looking for our waitress to get more butter. After 10 minutes, I finally got up and went to the serving area and asked for more butter. By the time it arrived, our baked potatoes were COLD! The butter would not melt! We don't like cold baked potatoes. Then we tried the prime rib. My wife ate about 1/3 of hers and quit because the meat was so tough. I tried eating mine and ate maybe 1/4 and just quit. It too was tough. All in all it was a terrible dinner for @$70. When the bill arrived there was an EXTRA charge we knew nothing about. Nowhere on the menu did it say there was an extra charge for the baked potato toppings. When the waitress asked us if we wanted them, she never mentioned that there was an extra charge. We are now realizing that probably a 35 year old manager (I'm just guessing) thinks that what they served us is really good prime rib. It was garbage! We'll never again eat at Langdon Grill. We took our leftovers home. We put them in the refrigerator. The next morning we threw the left overs in our garbage. $70.........what a waste!!!!!!!! It was such a disappointment because we live near Langdon Grill and it would have been fun to have a good place to eat out near our...
Read moreThis is a super comfortable, welcoming environment. My husband and I met some family for lunch and the entire experience was wonderful! The staff was excellent and attentive, the drinks were soooo good!
I had the Chicken Hazelnut Salad (grilled chicken, roasted hazelnuts, dried cherries & gorgonzola served with a blueberry pomegranate vinaigrette, $17.99) and loved every single bite of it! The chicken was perfectly seasoned and I enjoyed the blueberry pomegranate vinaigrette very much. I have to admit I didn't think it was anything better than I'd eaten elsewhere. Don't get me wrong because it was still very good!
My husband really liked this BBQ Brisket Sandwich (slow-cooked Brisket, BBQ sauce, pickle, crispy onion straws & pepper jack cheese on a pub bun, $16.99) however like me he didn't think it was anything extraordinary. But he would recommend it!
The real winner of this entire meal was the Chocolate Cake ($8.00 for a whopping big slice). Delectable, moist cake with sweet, smooth frosting. It was so rich, so thick and chocolatey. You've got to try it.
All in all, the food is pretty cliché as to what you can expect at a golf club. Tastes delicious but nothing unique. Great atmosphere though, and I would...
