Orono Brewing Company - Tasting Room & Kitchen — Restaurant in Orono

Returning back for homecoming reminded me how jealous I am this location opened near the end of my time at UMaine. I do have fond memories of their OG location that could barely fit 20 people in downtown Orono. This spot would be one of my go to spots as a current student cause OBC makes great beers, easily some of the best in the greater Bangor area. Also their fried chicken rivals most other options in the state I have tried. So crunchy and the chicken was perfectly juicy and the blueberry sauce made for a great condiment. Also their tater tots are cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned. Service was friendly and quick even with the crazy amount of people around for homecoming. This spot is huge especially when factoring in all the outdoor space for cornhole and other games. This is a must check-out brewery in Maine. It rivals some of the best in the state and they are a brewery that could succeed anywhere in the state. Kinda meh.

Not a fan of the buzzer system. I was confused about where to go to get the food. Has the look and vibe of a large industrial cafeteria. Very popular amongst university students. Beer selection is also meh. There's a lot, but a lot of similar stuff. The food selection is limited. Veggie option is fries only. Don't like that there's no way to opt out of giving a tip on already pricey food. I'm sorry but tips are for people that bring you your food, that check on you during your meal, and clean up when you leave. Maybe there was a small button somewhere to opt out but I didn't see it. I have traveled all over the USA tasting beer at breweries and Orono Brewing and Restaurant is very unique. Every one of their beers that I have sampled are some of the best I have ever tasted. The complexity of the profile on every tasting is hard to compare to any other beers produced in the country let alone Maine.
