Wolf's Den — Restaurant in Ostrander

Came in with a group of seven, place was relatively empty, so we were seated fairly fast. After getting our menus we put orders in within 10 mins. About 15 mins later, waitress came back out and informed us that one order wasn't possible due to it being a daily special so put a second order in. Two of us ordered the "all you can eat steak" for $19.95 (sounded too good to be true) turned out to be "all you can stomach". Steak was bland, extremely tough, and some of the poorest cuts of meat I've ever had. After 20 minutes asked for a second one thinking it was a fluke, and also asked on the status of my son's 7" pizza, seeing how several other tables who ordered pizza arriving AFTER us had already gotten their order. At this point everyone had gotten their food besidesy son. A hour into our meal, had stopped a second waitress and asked where the 7" pizza was, come to find out they hadn't even gotten it started. By the time they brought out the second steak and the 7" pizza, everyone else had finished eating and was simply waiting on the pizza to leave. In the end we were told the 7" pizza would be comped to cover the inconvenience.

Poor service, under-trained wait staff, steaks were bad, food had to be sent back for being under cooked (one asked for medium well came out raw/med raw), bartenders mixed drinks were botched, and a advertised "specialty shot" was 90% sprite, 5% grape schnapps (I presume) and 5% rum... .

Won't waste...

I'm not sure if they pay people to review this place with anything over 1 star. The service at this place is horrible. I'm not sure why we keep trying it again, thinking it will change. You either stand at the bar for 10 mins to get a drink or wait for over a half hour or just never get one if you are sitting at a table. The place isn't that big. There weren't that many people. We asked for condiments and refills when our food came out, and we never got it. Neither waitresses stopped at the table. 1 bartender and 2 waitresses. I think this place needs better management and staffing. Someone with our table ordered a steak done, no blood. The thing came out with all the blood. Maybe the kitchen staff should stop drinking and worry about cooking. You can see inside the kitchen from the parking lot and...

Spectacular food and a hidden gem. I do see a few reviews that are poor but it looks like they were one timers and small town restaurants should always get more than one chance. How many times does McDonald's screw up your order or make you wait and I bet you keep going back. ANYWAY....

My opinion - you will never eat pizza as good as the thick crust pizza at this place. We live in Rochester, we love pizza, and not a single pizza joint in Rochester can hold a candle to this off-the-beaten path place.

DRIVE there and you will thank me. It is delicious.
