Discovering Mi Rancho was like finding a diamond in the rough. The strip that it's in doesn't face the road and you wouldn't expect anything to be back there, but what is there is my favorite Mexican food place in Oswego. The food is good, the folks who work there are lovely people, and they just added a buffet! The buffet was an interesting new experience. They had Mexican standbys like beans, rice, mole, and fresh fruit, as well as stuff I wouldn't expect like taquitos and meatballs! The server also brought us taco meat and warm tortillas upon request, which was delicious and let us build our own tacos right at the table! He also brought us out a small bowl of spaghetti to try, which was honestly much better than I expected. If you're in the area and want authentic Mexican food, Mi Rancho is a must. It's the classic food you know in a comfortable setting.

Pastor burrito was a fantastically greasy, savory indulgence. Very pleased they gave us plenty of salsa in bottles to use generously on all the food, that's A+ for a Mexican restaurant. Tortilla chips were a little thicker than I prefer, but overall a satisfying meal. Would definitely consider coming back if I'm ever in the area, but probably wouldn't go out of my way - just a little too pricey for the portion. But they have plenty of options on the menu, so I'm open to it. I shan't levy my Indiana prejudices against the higher pricing of Illinois at the door of Mi Rancho, but I'd be hard pressed to pay more than $12 for a burrito dinner again, even in this economy.

Be ready to pay high prices. Nice small family business. They have a great selection of candies, desserts, drinks, and food. However if it wasn't for the tepache that they sell, I would not plan in going back. I understand food prices are going up and all but they went to the extreme. I didn't mind paying one time just to try. However, I would not eat frequently there. Way too pricey for what it is.

I visit Mi Rancho on a semi regular basis with a geocaching group, and I'm never disappointed. We can have anywhere from half a dozen to 2 dozen people in attendance, and the service is always good. I usually have the taco dinner with barbacoa, cilantro & onion, and add avocado. I'm telling you, this semi off the menu taco I the best around. Love it. Chips and salsa are always good and kept filled along with your drink. Save room for ice cream. Good food, nice staff with smiling faces, what more...
