The New Chalet Restaurant — Restaurant in Ottawa

I took my son, daughter and granddaughter to New Chalet today for lunch and what a mistake! The air conditioning was out which we should have left then but we stayed since there was just two other people in the place and time was of the essence. It still took forever to get our simple order and then mine wasn't correct and my poor granddaughters mac and cheese had hard noodles :(. When I sent mine back, they didnt even give me new fries but the original ones that were now cold and there looked like there was egg salad or something on my bread from where they cut my Turkey club sandwich and when I asked the waitress what that was she stared at it said i don't know and walked off!!! Didnt even offer to get me fresh bread. The mayo they have me was NOT mayo...I have no clue what the heck it was but made the sandwich inedible. The ketchup tasted like the cheapest on the market. It was terrible. Then the menu was not correct and it was misleading and when I told the waitress all she would say is, I dont write it. Why I left her a tip is beyond me. We were ended up paying $2.00 more for each meal than planned. $10.45 for a philly steak that had tough meat, dry bread and unmelted cheese. My daughter ordered a BLT on Panini bread but they gave her a big hunk of flat bread NOT PANINI BREAD. This place was horrible, low quality food and service. I advise...

I think this is my only perfect review. This restaurant is amazing, it is a breakfast place and they do close at 1pm. Which is a TAD bit of a bummer. The food is always delicious and comes quickly, service is always 10/10. I love this specific restaurant because of one of the waitresses, she's waited on FOUR generations (possibly 5) of my family, she's seen my mother and ny grandmother grow up, and she's seen me grow up. I don't even know if she realizes who I am, but she's so polite, a treasure, and she always has on the MOST beautiful jewelry sets! If you pick this restaurant, be prepared to make it your favorite, between the food, the atmosphere, and the staff you'll never want to leave. And if you want a good soup recommendation, get the beef and vegetables it's absolutely DIVINE! (Plus the bathrooms are clean and always have TP)

What the interior lacks in decor the staff makes up for by being polite and attentive with a smile. Many of their dishes, not all, remind me of home cooked comfort food. As a great option they're online and have a smartphone app for ordering (hello other Ottawa restaurants, are you paying attention here). Call ahead and use the convenient pickup window, literally is a window, unlike a drive-thru at a fast food restaurant. I rate this place a solid three star. When adding in their online presence when compared to other area restaurants, then maybe bump it...
