We visited Tiverton for the first time today, even though my In Laws only live a 5 minute drive away, they never knew it was there! It’s a welcoming little bakery with minimal inside seating, but a warm and inviting vibe. We arrived a little before noon on Saturday and the cafe seating looked full. There was a very short line, but it moved very quickly. Two staff members were friendly and efficient. When we try a new bakery we like to get as many items as we can to provide an honest review. Today we purchased a plethora of pastries, cheesecake, a box of assorted cookies, scones and several flavors of cupcakes, and cake balls to take home. There were 7 taste testers and everyone had their clear favorites. All the pastries were delicious and perfectly presented but the Crown ( delicate layered ring of pastry with a vanilla bean pastry cream filling and fresh cut strawberries), was the clear favorite. The cheesecake was absolutely lovely. Dense and creamy with a touch of sweetness from the cookie crust and topping. ALL of the cookies in our variety box were well flavored, soft and delicious. The lemon blueberry scone texture was perfect, but we really didn’t get any lemon out of it at all. The cupcakes were average in my opinion, not at all dry as some reviews state. You can take that opinion with a grain of salt as I am VERY particular about cakes. As a professional baker and cake artist of 20+ years I prefer a different crumb to my cakes, and a Swiss meringue buttercream instead of the sweet American buttercream this bakery has. All in all, I would definitely return as well as recommend this bakery to anyone who may pass this way. You can see the love and attention to detail in everything they make.
I did read the reviews from former staff that gave me pause. I know there are always two sides to the story, but I also know that there is certainly a nugget of truth in there somewhere. Let’s hope the current staff is paid and...
Read moreMy husband and I first experienced Tiverton delicious baked goods when we had visited an amazing barbecue joint called Hurtado. I mean who can resist sweets after meaty salty bbq!?
At the bbq joint we had the peanut butter chocolate cake slice and the Mexican hot chocolate pecan pie…. WOW!!!! It’s hard to find a solid cake that is moist and spongey with plenty of flavor!! Plus it had Pb cups inside and on top of it and the best light and creamy PB frosting ever! The Mexican hot chocolate pecan pie was LEGIT!! NAILED the flavors even with that slight hit of spice!!! Wish we had an entire pie!!!
We didn’t know that they had a bakeshop so when we resisted Dallas we knew we had to make a stop to check out what other goodies they offer!
They are THE CUTEST and hippest little bakery ever!!! It is a little house that is so inviting and adorable to hang out, eat some delish food and drink some coffee!
We tried out their mini cheesecakes, savory breakfast sandwiches, chicken salad, cookies, sticky buns, cupcakes and kouign Amann. Side note their coffee is also too die for and is brewed especially for them!
OMG…. Just as good as we expected based on our first experience! The cupcake, flavorful and moist, the cheesecake creamy, the kougin Amann with a crunchy sweet and salty flavor that was layered…. Seriously some of the best cookies we’ve had….and we’re pretty particular on our cookies!! Chewy, slight crisp on outside, tons of flavor throughout! Everything they make is from scratch… even the VANILLA!!!!!
Even the savory stuff was yummy!! In particular the Chicken Salad is a MUST TRY!
Great food, great ambiance and even more incredible people!! They treat you like family when you come! They are legit only 15/20min South of Downtown Dallas and are...
Read moreI give Tiverton bakery a one star review because when I worked here, I was hired as a part-time employee meaning I was paid minimum wage. I was supposed to receive tips however when one of the co-owners left, I did not receive my tips until 3 months after I started working there. Also, myself and two of my former coworkers practically ran the entire bakeshop by ourselves and we did most, if not all, of the baking and all of the cake/custom orders. Most of the time, the owners were not there and never showed up nor told us they were going to be absent. When orders were taken, myself and former coworkers were not told of these until last minute. Not to mention, working at Tiverton Bakeshop, myself and my former coworkers did the jobs of three very experienced and high-paid employees and were never given raises. We were told that Tiverton “couldn’t afford it.” We were put through unnecessary stress and worked more hours than we were schedule for because the owners neglected to give us the necessary tools to help us succeed. Speaking on my own behalf, I was hired as a dishwasher and ended up working the register, doing the dishes, decorating, and producing products all while receiving...
