El Piñal — Restaurant in Owen

We come from out of state but we drive through Owen a few times a year and just kept driving past this place wanting to try it. We checked it online and it had high reviews. Excited to try it we stop in for dinner on the way home. First of all, I must say that the salsa here for the chips and salsa was REALLY delicious. The person I was with said it’s in the top 5 that he has ever had. And it was very tasty I couldn’t disagree. So we thought at that moment that “oooh boy, we hit a goldmine”… unfortunately that would not be the case. The food was average. It just didn’t stick out to us. We weren’t really thrilled about our food. It was just like… eh. Service wasn’t bad. It was clean inside. And we appreciated their little shrine inside. And the food presentation was good. Dad and Taco, and I were heading a long way home from a longer day of travel. Hungry for mexican. Not a lot of anything besides big farms and highway around us. Googled mexican food near me and followed the map here. What a happy accident! A small cafe with ice cold sodas and cevesas was what we found. Immaculately clean and friendly with amazingly cheap delicious food was what we found. A perfect day- more than anything in the world-spending time with dad and my dog- smiling enjoying food that made me fully appreciate how loved i am and wont forget it. Amazing experience, every time we come here. The owners are friendly and they make true authentic Mexican meals with so much love and flavor. Our family’s favorites are the Tres Sopes, Carnitas and the Shrimp Fajitas. My great aunt is Hispanic and their food reminds of her wonderful homemade meals and salsas she makes. Be sure to always ask for the squeeze bottled red and green salsa, they are perfect on everything. We live in Chippewa Falls and it’s always worth the drive and it’s truly one of our favorite restaurants out of all of our travels.
