Mechanicsville Neighborhood Kitchen — Restaurant in Owensboro

Hands down the best Philly omlettes in town. When my wife asks if I want to go out for breakfast, there isn't even a discussion. She's asking if I want to go to Mechanicsville (unless they're closed, of course), and the answer is always yes.

My only complaint is that they are not open on weekends, which is when we most commonly have family or friends over, so I can't show off the best omlettes in town to those visiting.

That being said, I do applaud Tia for setting boundaries. As a former chef, I know well how hard the restaurant business can be on your mental well-being as well as your body (hence why I'm a 'former' chef).

Long story short: Fantastic place for breakfast. Haven't sampled much of the lunch and dinner menu, but the other customers all rave about Tia's cooking, and from my personal experience, I have no reason to doubt them.

Are you hungry for a good home cooked breakfast & a cup of coffee, but far from home to make it yourself or you want someone else to do it for you? Then you must stop at this little neighborhood diner! The prices will reflect the taste & value of the food and no interior glam to pay towards the overhead. Owner, Chef Tia Johnson & staff provided exemplary service beyond imagination. Not only was the cuisine extremely delightful to the palate; the wait was short and the detail in accordance to drink refills(including water) was superb. I even ordered (2)to go meals for my wife & I to have for later. The thought of departing from Chef’s Soul-food cooking got the best of me😅. My wife & I promptly returned….the very next day!!!
