El Tapatio — Restaurant in Owensville

Very clean, including restroom. Chips/salsa..good. (Thick cut chips. Thicker, dark colored salsa). I ordered Polo Feliz .. looked amazing...waiter brought out, placed on table.. it was covered in cheese, veggies were on bottom and plentiful... thats great! Shrimp on top..delicious! Excited to cut into the chicken! Cut my 1st piece, put in my mouth..first taste the cheese and then I could taste... sour/vinegar? I stop chewing, trying to wrap my head around this unusual flavor..I wasn't sure what i was tasting exactly since it had tons of cheese on it (which I love) if i was actually tasting it right..if my tastebuds may be confused or something?..so i take a drink of water, clear my palette and go in for another bite at the other end of the piece of chicken... Sadly, it was another vinegar tasting bite!.. Sat there in disbelief for a few.. like, noo, my taste buds are betraying me... 3rd bite..yep, tasting vinegar! Now, any experience I've ever had in my 50+ yrs of tasting chicken.. if sour is the flavor..the chicken is bad chicken..this what I am thinking in my head..can't get past it..It's a BIG NO for me!!! (However, giving benefit of doubt, maybe they used vinegar in some way in this dish?? Cheese sauce? Marinated chicken in a vinegar brine of some sort???).. well, regardless I could not bring myself to eat the rest of this chicken dish. The presentation was fabulous, however the taste was not what i was expecting, not my flavor. 😞 (no, I haven't gotten sick..been about an hour ago I ate.. I did not say anything to the staff either.. as I said, maybe it's something in the way they prepare it..IDK.. just wasn't a good flavor for me. This is MY experience and MY review based on this 1x experience here. Other dishes are probably delicious! I love Mexican food..usually! I hope your experience is better and full of...

Edit: The service has very much improved and they seem to have fixed all of their issue. Some waiters can be a bit short, but otherwise everything has vastly improved.

This place started out fantastic with lightning-fast service. Now that the newness has worn off, the service has become increasingly worse. Twice we have been sat in back half of the restaurant and completely ignored. Today was the final straw as we ordered food to go with our meal and ended up waiting for over 30 minutes after we had finished eating and still never received our food until we went to the front desk to complain. I absolutely love the quality of the food at this place! As a person with a lot of food allergies, I often find it difficult to find a place to eat. Usually, whatever I can find is a bland salad with little substance. I came here and ordered their grilled chicken salad, expecting the same thing, but I was pleasantly surprised. The presentation of the food was beautiful, and you could tell the cooks put effort into it. The salad was full of different flavors and ingredients that made my mouth water, and I will definitely...
