Bobbers Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Oxford

So, the family and I traveled to Bobber’s Bar & Grill on a Tuesday in June of last month. The 27th to be exact. I've heard nothing but good things about the food, atmosphere, etc... I had seen previous posts from Bobber's and it's definitely somewhere you don't want to take your kids on a Friday or Saturday night, so we picked a Tuesday around 1730 to try them out. Seemed reasonable. We are greeted at the door by a young blonde female dressed in what appeared to be a purple gymnastics outfit. Odd, but ok. We are sat by a super nice young girl and gave our drink order. I order the frog legs and fried green tomatoes as appetizers. Both appetizers were really good, but the wife had to track down silverware and napkins to eat said appetizers with. Kind of annoyed. We order for 4 kids and 2 adults. Nothing crazy. The young waitress says it's her "first day". Cool. Understandable. We can work with that. She appreciates us understanding. Entrées arrive. Salads are 10 minutes behind the Entrées and not correct, but still ok. I ordered the fried grouper and onion rings. I had no idea it would be blackened grouper and blackened onion rings. Not edible at all. I have NEVER in my 44 years of being alive sent an order back, until tonight. When I tell you it was bad...it was BAD!!! I'll eat a shoe if it's cooked correctly. IYKYK me. So, its sent back. No manager comes to apologize and make the issue right. I order a hamburger steak with onions and mushrooms and a side of okra. I eat this, but its not good. No flavor, okra under cooked. Fat boy is not a happy camper (pardon the Wedowee pun). We finish and head out to leave. We meet our waitress at the front and she checks us out. While we're waiting for her to get this ready, a group of 8 patrons are sitting near the register. All of said patrons are staring at my young family, snickering, staring and laughing at us for some unknown reason. Well...if you know Chris, this doesn't go off without something being said. In my booming voice, I ask the gentleman rubbing his beard and staring at me (along with the rest of the trash at his table) IS THERE SOMETHING I CAN HELP YOU WITH?? You could've heard a pin drop over the white trash music playing in the background. Surprise...no one said a word, but all went back to their Wordscapes game on their phones. I paid my $104 bill and we left the establishment. Just so we are clear, no alcohol was purchased. This was $104 worth of garbage. Sweet teas, waters, and a Coke. I will NEVER set foot back in this place, ever. I hope this review goes viral in Wedowee, Alabama and ever person who is halfway decent sees it and spreads the word. The people in this business could care less about your experience and the integrity of the business or food. May I also add that the obscenities wrote in black permanent marker all over the buildings, near the dance floor were not appealing. Good night all...

First time visiting tonight and from my experience I do not recommend. It started off great by being seated fast. The waitress took our drinks order and they returned shortly later along with taking our food order. That's the last of the good experience. A very long time later she stopped by and another one of my party ordered a 2nd alcoholic drink and we asked for a drink menu for ladies. Neither the drink nor the menu came. The guy who cleans the tables stopped by and checked on us and we asked about our previous request. He told us he would check on it and he did. Shortly later, a different waitress came by and brought the drink menu and 2nd drink. We still haven't been brought our food yet. But trying to be patient we waited. Enough time went by that the guy who cleaned the tables came back to check on us. We asked him about our food since our waitress seemed to be ignoring us. He promptly checked and returned with its up next. A not so short but long enough time later our food arrived. 3 of the meals were hot and one was cold. Now we still haven't received any refills of our drinks and the lady who brought our food couldn't take our alcoholic drink order. Guess who never showed back up either, our waitress. At this point I couldn't tell you who was. The first lady, the second, or the man cleaning the tables who had been the most helpful. Finally, I was able to get the first ladies attention and she came over. I of course asked for a manager and he came over. I explained the situation about how the service had been terrible. He says "I got you" , walks and talks to another man who I presumed worked there, before sitting down at another guest table. The first lady comes back and tries to take our alcoholic drink order. At this point we just want to leave and tell her no. The manager, who we thought was a manager and still sitting at another guests table, turned around and said what if they are on the house(the drinks). I stated no because we have been trying to order those for 40 mins and now the ladies just want to go home. I asked for a check and guess what? We still paid full price for everthing. No one cared about the awful service we recieved or anyway to remedy the situation. For this reason I do not recommend eating here...

So update...my neighbor with dementia wanted to go have a drink. I'd had no alcohol and my friend had one drink. The bartender decided we were to drunk to be served. THE RUDEST PLACE IN TOWN. Been to Bobbers 4 times first time it was great. Last 3 times food was not very good. My last visit was horrible wasn't that busy really. Tried sitting at the bar didn't even get acknowledged I was there. Guy next to me said good luck I've been waiting for another beer for awhile. So I got a wobbly table outside waited 10 minutes for a drink. So no drink for almost 20 minutes. Waiter didn't seem happy to be there. Ordered fried catfish, onion rings and a side salad. Food came no salad. I was starving been on a boat all day had no silverware finally brought salad. Server came back got me silverware. Onion rings were hard as a rock. Fish was soggy and sitting in a bunch of grease I was starving and still didn't want to eat it. Salad was decent. Told waiter about food and he said "Nothing I can do about that".Came right back with check no drink refill no have a good night just tossed the bill at me and walked off. I was raised to eat what's in front of me raised my kids that way. But if I'm dropping $30 on a 1 piece catfish dinner it should be at least edible. I ate the catfish left the rings still hungry I went to Jack's. Lousy service sometimes, over priced portions, and hit or miss food. I said I wasn't going to go back to that liberal Democrat place made me wear a mask time before last push the mask thing way too far for me. But I was hungry and fish sounded pretty good unfortunately this place is maybe okay for an atmosphere bar party kind of thing but the food is...
