Rich Farm Ice Cream Shop is not just a destination; it's an experience. Nestled in a serene locale, it offers an oasis of flavor amidst nature's beauty. The allure of this establishment lies not only in its delicious ice cream but also in the immersive atmosphere it provides. With every visit, patrons are treated to a sensory journey, where the rich aroma of freshly churned ice cream mingles with the crisp air, creating an atmosphere of pure indulgence. Families find solace in the welcoming ambiance, where laughter and joy abound as children revel in the array of delectable treats. What truly sets Rich Farm Ice Cream Shop apart is its commitment to quality without compromising on affordability. Despite the premium flavors and picturesque setting, prices remain reasonable, ensuring that everyone can partake in the sweet delight without hesitation. Whether you're savoring a classic scoop of chocolate or daring to explore the shop's inventive flavor combinations, each bite is a testament to the care and dedication poured into every batch. It's a place where memories are made, friendships are forged, and taste buds are forever spoiled by the richness of flavor and warmth of community. In essence, Rich Farm Ice Cream Shop is more than just a shop; it's a destination where time stands still, and every moment is savored like the last lick of a melting cone.

Rich’s Farm is my absolute go-to ice cream spot. I love it, I love it, I love it. My favorite order is peaches and cream with cherries, and sometimes worms for fun. They also have Cowabunga, which is coconut ice cream with pineapple chunks. It is so delicious but only seasonal. The ice cream is always fresh and tasty, and the portions are generous. Their waffle is out of this world. Honestly, if you go to Rich’s and you don’t double fist their ice cream, what are you even doing? The atmosphere is perfect too. It is dog friendly with plenty of places to sit. You can relax at a table or bring a picnic blanket and sit on the grass. Sometimes the cows are out which makes it extra fun. The staff are always super nice and greet you with a smile. I have never had a bad experience here. You can even take pints home and they will hold them for you until you are ready to leave, just don’t forget to go back for them. Rich’s Farm is truly one of the best spots for ice cream.

Underwhelming birthday cake. Ordered an ice cream cake from Rich Farm Dairy because of the feedback on Facebook. So order black cherry vanilla with cookie crumbs and German chocolate. The cake was $53, which is not an issue if the product is worth it. This was the most embarrassing ice cream cake I have purchased. It was literally two inches high...yes..that is two layers of ice cream, a layer of cookie crunch and the whip topping, 2 inches high! It was not decorated except for the Happy Birthday writing. The black cherry vanilla layer had no cherries. I cut 1/4 of the cake and there was literally 1/2 of a cherry in one piece and 1/4 of a cherry in another piece. The German chocolate layer was missing in the center of the cake. They dumped a bunch of cookie crumbles in its place. This cake was suppose to feed 16 people and it did not. I have included photos with a ruler.

I was here with my family yesterday for the first time in about 5 years. We used to live in the area, were regulars for many years and LOVED the ice cream! We were all very disappointed yesterday. The ice cream used to be much creamier and had better flavor. I had my all-time favorite, caramel swirl, and aside from not being creamy, the caramel flavor also seemed "off". It's still decent ice cream but no where near the quality that it used to be, and it's doubtful we'd ever bother coming back, unless they revert to the old recipes! We were spoiled by the high quality ice cream they used to make! I am so sorry to leave a negative review of this once-beloved place, but maybe it will let the Rich owners know that some of their long-time customers do notice the decrease in quality.

Edited to reply to owner's response to my original review, as I don't know how else to reply

I appreciate your quick reply, it means that you care! Three of us had Caramel Swirl (our favorite), and also Sweet Cream, and Black Cherry. Maybe we just hit a bad day, and had batches that were off...

Have been coming here for years. The line can be long and intimidating at first, but it moves quickly. Ice Cream is the best around. It is made fresh daily and you can even see the cows that the milk came from if that is your thing (fun for kids?). They always have specials and post them on Facebook whenever a new one comes out while also posting what is left from their previous specials. You can get your favorites from them in pints or half gallons to take home. They often do special treats with ice cream like gingersnap ice cream sandwiches, apple cider donuts, and pies. Their ice cream cakes are just as good as their ice cream and usually our go to for birthdays. In the winter time, they open up the indoor area so you can eat your ice cream in the warmth and in front of the fire even. Open from Spring until Christmas, this is a must for anyone local to CT or just visiting the area. So much more can be said, but I'll keep this "short". I will always come back here and stay tuned for future photos of my...
