Toros Cantina — Restaurant in Oxford

Finally tried this place after always seeing so many people going there and oh boy I'm glad I did. It is insanely delicious. The portions are huge. The prices are fair and average but I think they are under priced for the size of their portions. My husband got Carne asada fries as and appetizer and couldn't eat his entree because he was so full and I've never seen him get full from an app before, he usually eats a lot. I got the chicken flautas. They are the best I've ever had. They have a little drizzle of some Chipotle sauce on top which I've never seen anywhere else do this, and it added the perfect touch of spice. The meal was just amazing. The staff is amazing. The atmosphere is so cool. It would prob be a great place to go to watch a sporting event because they have a bar in the center and TVs around. The restrooms were really clean and smelled so good. They always seem to be crowded yet I've never had to wait for a table or wait long for the food. It comes so fast. I went for lunch today and the lunch menu is smaller and so were the portions which was perfect. If you have not been here yet you have to try it out. It's so good. Best place we have found in Oxford so far. We moved here about 8 months ago and it's been hard knowing where to go because I don't know anyone around here to ask for recommendations. So I figured we would just try the places we always see packed. Also it doesn't feel or seem crowded or packed when you're inside. I had such high hopes of this restaurant. I had friends recommend for a date night. I work 2 jobs so it's hard to find time to get away with my husband. When arriving, we were told it would be a 10-20 minute wait. The young lady taking names was so sweet. We ended up waiting about 30 minutes. That's completely understandable because it was a Friday night. After being seated we waited about 10 minutes to get our drinks. My husband and I went ahead and ordered cheese dip and our food order. Then a large group of 32 people came in and were put beside our booth at a long table. We completely lost our waitress. She never came back for over 20 minutes. I understand you have a large table but waiting over 20 minutes for cheese dip?! I saw the manager, in a red shirt, and went to ask him. He saw me coming and ducked into the kitchen. He left a young lady at the cash register to help me. I kindly asked her for the cheese dip. She went and got it asap. Our waitress and the manager were taking care of the large party and ignored us for the majority of our visit. My husband got a refill after he almost finished his meal. My husband ordered tacos and asked for no onions, please. He ended up picking out many onions out of his tacos. The food was good but the service was disappointing. The young lady taking names and the young lady running the cash register took better care of us. We may have chose a bad night to go for the first time because of the large party. I totally understand a waitress may get overwhelmed but please remember the small table that doesn't get many date...

My husband and I have eaten lunch here a few times. We have ordered from the create your own combination plate on the lunch menu. I love enchiladas and tacos, so I tend to order those. I have had them with ground beef and shredded beef. I have to say I wasn't disappointed by either. My husband loves burritos and enchiladas, so he tends to get the same thing as well. He ordered ground beef in each his meals. I remember him saying that the meat had more flavor and was better the last time we were there. They don't skimp on the food. Another thing I Love is their tortilla chips. They make them in-house and they are excellent! We order cheese dip first thing so we can enjoy them as a appetizer. I also enjoy them with my meal, they are very helpful with getting food loaded on the fork. LOL! The lunch menu is affordable. We don't tend to go out in the evening, so we don't know how things are beyond their lunch menu. We don't drink so we can't say anything about their bar. All the staff is helpful and very friendly. Our other great thing about Toros Cantina is they're next to Walmart. We stop by and eat lunch, then go shopping at Walmart after so we can walk off some of what we ate. LOL! We love them.
