I was at Whistle Stop with a party of 6 on Friday, September 20th from about 6-8PM.
We sat in the back corner of the restaurant and had a friendly server. We asked for 3 separate tabs. Apparently throughout the evening, the kitchen became more and more backed up which resulted in service being slow. Our drinks took a little while. No big deal. We placed our food order and waitedā¦and waitedā¦and waited.
When our dinners came, 5 meals were delivered instead of 6. One member of our party ordered a cowboy burger which was nowhere to be found. (Whether it was taken or even made is an unsolved mystery) Instead of our partyās burger being remade immediately, 45 minutes passed by before he finally got his meal. We are talking about 45 minutes for a BURGERā¦.Meanwhile, the rest of us are at the table finishing up. Ridiculous. Eventually he was provided with a dessert - Which Iām not sure was even complimentary.
Throughout the evening, there was no interaction with a manager, no indication the burger would be comped by the restaurant, and our server was left to handle our issue by himself. To his credit, he did the best he could and was checking on us frequently.
While the server was friendly and did his best to handle a difficult situation, and the larger kitchen issues are not his fault whatsoever, itās interesting that all 3 tabs all happened to be $53.69 before tip when we finally left. What was the point of separate tabs? Interesting that the receipts we ended with didnāt show any sort of line item breakdown of the food either.
Mistakes happen everywhere. Itās how a business responds that defines them. Whistle Stop failed miserably. Luckily there are plenty of other great spots in the area so i wonāt be missing Whistle Stop anytime in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust had dinner there. I ordered the baked haddock. It was delivered barely warm and 2 bites in I was greeted by slivery, shiny, RAW fish. I stopped our waitress and quietly said this is raw, can they please cook this more. She quickly took it as she apologized. Meanwhile, the rest of my family continued to eat their dinner. They were completely done when mine was finally returned. I thanked her and went onto my dinner. As my husband was paying the bill, A "manager" appeared asking if I was the one with the fish. I nodded and she said... "ya, I'm sorry about that but we cook our fish to be translucent, it wasn't raw. Next time you order it tell your server you want it well done. We tell people that when they order scallops as well" What this lady is unaware of is that I have been in the restaurant business for over 25 years, and I am also a manager at a very popular restaurant. That fish was RAW!!!! not translucent! Understand this, other than asking that my fish be was cooked, I did not complain, I was not asking the dinner to be removed from our tab nor did I expect it to be. But, how dare you come to a table and tell the customer they were wrong for not ordering it be cooked! My husband got a raw meatloaf there last month and we said nothing. Is that supposed to be translucent too? So that was our last visit there. If you are looking for sushi then head right on over, if you want cooked fish then you should go somewhere else that doesn't blame a customer for not specifying they'd like their fish actually cooked. Learn some people skills Ms. Manager and know when to leave well...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLast night was our 3rd time going. The first 2 times were good. We raved to our friends it was a great place and the food was excellent as well as portion size. Last night was extremely different. We ordered the calamari and received less than half the portion we had ordered a couple months ago for an appetizer. My husband ordered a Caesar salad and it was almost a quarter of the size from the last time we went. The gravy on my friend chicken dinner had a strong herbal taste which made it unappetizing. We assumed maybe it was a new cook but we're disappointed since we spent a while telling our friends the food couldn't be beat. My friend had ordered scallops with fries and it was surprising seeing she only had a few scallops on her plate as well as fries. We also were told we would wait 15 to 20 minutes from the waitress but ended up being there for 3 hours between waiting for a table and our food to come to the table including the time to eat our meal. I was a bit disappointed since it was our...
