My family loves the Farmhouse Diner and all it has to offer. It is not just your typical dishes you see in other restaurants that they offer, but down home Appalachian homecooked/made from scratch meals, bringinâ back memories from everyoneâs early childhood. The food is always wonderful, with their hot bar (having different specials each day) and a new salad bar they have, also AFFORDABLE pricing and the portion sizes are very generous. They also have a small, short menu that you can also pick from, if something on the hot bar does not have want your feelinâ that day. BUTâŠâŠâŠ YOU WILL NOT LEAVE THERE HUNGRY. Our small town is thankful to have a wonderful place to eat, sit down and relax with family, to laugh, giggle, and make memories. We have had several visits when we were served by Clara (sometimes they may have another server), the ownerâs daughter, who goes beyond to make you feel welcome, takes extreme care of us as well as all other customers. The family who owns and runs this restaurant is a kind, loving, compassionate, and overall, a fantastic bunch, they know all their customersâŠ.as they are regulars and I mean like coming every day. HAHA. They even memorize their drink preferences, and how they would like their food prepared if they chose another meal other than the hot bar. Always will be a...
Read moreOnce or twice a month, we like to drive to different places in the state & check out non-chain restaurants. This one in Salyersville had good reviews, so we thought âwhy not?â. Sorry to say, we were not impressed. Perhaps we got there at an off-time, but youâd think Sunday afternoon/evening would be a high priority time, since people are on their way to & from church & Sunday school. So, they have 3 bars/buffets and then they have a regular menu. The bars are a salad bar, a hot bar, and a pizza bar. At the time we were there, one bar was $9, each additional was $3. I got all three to try a variety of what they had. The pizza bar was empty when we got there. They did put out 1 pizza but the 2 tables of men there scooped it up before we could get any. The salad bar was pitiful, the lettuce looked nasty. The hot bar had remnants of what looked like meatloaf around the edges, but most was gone. There was staple veggies, like corn & mashed potatoes. They had a pan of very thin cornbread, but it was nothing special. There were no desserts whatsoever, not even cookies. Like I said, maybe they were just having an off day or maybe it was a down time, but I probably wonât be back. If I do come back, I will order from the regular menu. Everyone at our table got the bar/buffet, so we canât give a review on the...
Read moreOverall the Farmhouse Diner is a welcomed addition to Magoffin County, as both a dine or take out option.
Located just off the Mountain Parkway, on Rt. 7 it is more than convenient to pull off for a quick bite of truly home cooked meals (Amanda makes a mean gravy and biscuit!)
They offer both a pizza bar (Certain times/days), as well as a Breakfast Bar that allows even the latest sleepers to grab some grub for their day.
Plenty of parking is available, as well as being handicap accessible to those with mobility issues.
The atmosphere is of that, where children and family are welcomed as an extension of Farmhouse itself.
Cash as well as debit/credit cards are welcome for payment, and as a a compliment to the patrons, free wifi is available to combat the bad...
