Local town tavern (looks to be the only one) offering up cheap eats and town gossip. Renting a cabin on Briggs Lake got us wandering into town for Sunday lunch. Typical setup of bar across one end and a scatter of tables and chairs throughout. Place is clean and overall lit up by a number of windows. Staff were friendly and a general bar menu offered burgers and sandwiches, soups and salads, homemade pizza and appetizers. My club sandwich was tasty and came with a good amount of deli ham and turkey, smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, Swiss and American cheese and mayo. White toast had more of a dried out texture, than toasted. Fries were larger and had a good texture. My wife’s grilled chicken was lightly seasoned, lacking real flavor, with tomato, lettuce and mayo. Warning: looking for cash payment, as all other form of transactions come with a fee.

I had the Club sandwich. It was delicious. It's your typical Club with added raw onions on it. The French fries were crispy and delicious. Will definitely go back.

The owners are generous and kind people. We are blessed to have them in our community. It's great to see the original name back, too. I don't know them, personally, but from what I see they are exceptional people who are the glue to rural communities like Palmer, that make up our wonderful county! The portions at the Palmer House seem generous for a bar. But the prices are commensurate. The onion rings and burger were very good, and the service was friendly. I grew up going to the Palmer House but haven't been there in YEARS. It's definitely a lot louder now. They could use some sound dampening textures on the wall or something. I'm no restaurant expert, but it was overwhelmingly loud for such a little place. We could hear everyone's conversations. The men's restroom was uncomfortable. The urinals block the entry door. And anyone walking past could definitely watch you do your business. The walls are adorned like an early '80s Snap-On calendar or something that you maybe found in your dirty uncle's basement. I have no problem with beautiful women and all their wonderful parts, it just seems odd to have them plastered all over a restroom. What are guys doing in there besides recycling their beer? Overall, it's worth a stop if you're looking for good people and...

Thought we would try this place and wish we hadn't. Placed order for 4 beverages, 3 arrived correct, 1 was wrong. The waitress argued over the 1 wrong but finally brought the correct beverage. We waited over 20 minutes for her to come back and take our order, which she never did so we got up and asked for our check, to which she again argued with us that we can order now or we can move to a new station ond order from another. Again, we just want to pay and leave. After several more minutes, we paid, our best guess, and left. A complete waste of 40 minutes. There was not a lot of people there,...
