West End Saloon — Restaurant in Palmerton

Update as of June 2023: I had this place as a 5 star review. The food, the service, and prices were always fantastic in the past. I'm not sure what happened since the new back area opened, but the food has gone downhill. Our last visit (just last week), my taco was overdone, my fries were undercooked (raw and soggy), my kids fries were overcooked (dark brown), the beer cheese was cold. The burger my daughter ordered was good (no issues here). We were over charged by our waitress, a young girl (never seen her before). Asked and she gave attitude about how the honey dipped chicken is 'market price'. On the menu, it shows $13 and some change and we were charged $17. We were over charged for the beer cheese. We also were over charged for a beer which we didn't order. Not only did we have attitude from the waitress on several occasions throughout the night, but we left our phone number for someone to call us back (1 week later and still no phone call). After visiting this place for years, I'm appalled at the service received and the fact that they don't seem to care. It's too bad Fred wasn't our server (as he normally is). He is awesome. If I have a problem with the food which is rare, he would correct it with no questions asked.

Sorry, but I will likely not return if you don't care about your long-time customers.

Food was good, but the menu doesn't state that the price was $6.25 per taco and not for the meal. Some transparency would've been much appropriated. Personally I had the fish and chips, which were very consistent with your normal expectations.

The problem is that the service was tremendously slow. Clearly they needed to hire one more server, as our table was left without refills for the entire time we were there. And it took at least 30 to 35 minutes after the other 30 or so minutes it took us to eat to finally get the check. Thankfully the server was nice enough to hurry in taking the card and returning it to us.

I would come back if the above problem was addressed, otherwise: there's better...

Before moving out of state, I have frequented this location often due to their amazing food specials, fair prices and friendly staff. I often arrived for burger night ($6 burger and fries) or taco night. The portions are HUGE and the food is delicious. One member of our party tried to the tacos (even though they hate tacos) and absolutely loved them. Whatever this place is doing, they should continue doing because it is working well. My only comment is two fold 1) I would suggest additional advertising since this location is off of the main road and many may not be aware of it and the specials and 2) if you are to arrive please arrive early since if they are not busy the kitchen may close early (similar to other local...
