ok where to begin um so i was in lancaster pennsylvania for hmgs conventions and when i was there was i was so at home in my hotel i could literally fantasize about moving there to contrast to think seeing neighbors who look like they just stay at home forever and have their property deteriorate versus crazy stories of heroes like henry miller and him in california being a home owner doing paintings thinking of another was norfolk so how i heard washington dc redskins players used to later get traded to the eagles so that move but i didn't do it was just having a real good time being quite entertained
i made movies up here that are on my youtube channel
so the food is so good um i got a few things like some soups (i think last time i got frozen ham bean and chicken noodle to bring home) and some pot pies i really enjoy the amish cooking though i'd imagine if i were there full time i might get burnt out on it and have to find something new um there's lots of things in the store that looked really good like maybe homemade chips or deserts the cold arnold palmer sweet tea drink i got from the fridge really nailed it
pennsylvania is charming amish country is fun the other hang out spots are cool too like central market and southern market or what's left of tanger outlets some other noteworthy amish stuff around here would be shady maple and miller's smorgasbord
everything tastes so good respecting the amish community too their cool culture being ignorant to it but hearing there's mennonites in harrisonburg near where i am in luray so the whole network with that
a great time picking up some foods from the many choices in this...
Read moreI drove by this place after it closed and was very disappointed that I couldn't pick up some chicken pot pies. Last weekend, I was driving down rt 15, crossed into MD from PA... And saw a market on my right, about 50-ish miles South of Harrisburg. The name of the market is Catoctin Mountain Orchard. I decided to stop and was surprised to see the Zook's pies in their freezer... Beef and chicken. There were only 2 of each left, and I got the last 2 chicken. I baked one tonight. I followed the instructions and baked it in my little toaster oven. It was perfect! There are huge chunks of chicken pieces, and it didn't run all over as I thought it would when I was cutting a slice. The crust was delicious!! The pie was so yummy! I'm going to get more the next time I drive by that market since it is closer to me than Lancaster. Highly...
Read moreWhen we are in the area, I love stopping in this store. Although they are known for their potpies and you can also purchase them at other local stores. They come frozen (as do their other dishes), but they heated up quickly in the oven (about 20 minutes) and were delicious. There are fun assortment of baked goods that change seasonally (pumpkin whoppie pies are now available). Also, take home a couple of jarred items (pickles, fruit butters, jams, etc). Or some of the locally made candy. The choice is yours but you won't be...
