Stompin' Grounds Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Park Rapids

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. The Good: Great food. Nice facilities. Close to trails. Decent setup as far as parking with trailers, even one spot in the tent section. Wash station for bikes/atv (not power wash) The Bad: Made reservation in May. Visited two weeks prior to reservation and verified with owner. Was told everything was good and even upgraded to another spot with electric free of charge (which was nice of them). I arrive and nothing was in the computer. Zero notes. Took almost an hour to sort out. Didn't receive the powered spot, as the lady wanted the full price. -Charged for shower house, which I have never heard of. -Cannot bring own firewood (Purchased at the gas station prior to arrival, still in my truck). The Ugly Accosted by another camper at 845 on my last day, telling me I was in his spot. I was packing up, but check out wasn't until 1100. The other camper was adamant that he needed to get set up and I had to leave. To prevent an incident, I pulled out to the staging area and finished packing. For the record, guy had a Sprinter motorhome and flatbed. Good luck on getting it down in the spot. I was at max length with a CCSB and 6x12 cargo without blocking the road. We stayed 2 nights here while 4 wheeling on the state trails. At first we were a little concerned that it was going to be a rowdy place to stay, but it wasn't like it that at all. Very respectable place. They had some permanent sites and the rest were very well groomed. I felt this was a great value for the amenities we received. We had water and electricity for our camper. They have a dump station and ok shower room, we showered in our camper. The bonus was the fact they have a wash station for our 4 wheelers. The dump station seems new and should be updated to campground standards as the approach was slanted and the dump hole was way too big and not at all the standard size to accommodate RV sewer hoses and it was 10" above ground level. I just had my wife hold the end with her foot while I took care of the business. But the septic will not deter us from returning for another great camping experience. We were able to purchase a large amount of quality wood and it was delivered to our campsite! We had lunch at the restaurant ant the food was very good with reasonable prices. Everybody at this bar was amazing! 14 of us showed up and it was just a single bartender in a quiet place. Without fret he was ready to serve the group and was a great person to be around. He turned up the music and grabbed us all drinks. Everyone was ordering food as more people began to come in. I thought for sure panic would set in, as we began to order food his Mom showed up ready to cook! She was amazing!! WöW! The best burger I have had in a long time! I highly recommend the stompin' burger. Everyone was raving about it... maybe I should have ordered it. Next time. The owner Steve(Dad) showed up too just to say hi to everyone. Very personable.
