The Outpost — Restaurant in Park Rapids

Stopped into the Outpost for a bite on a Sunday after a morning of fishing, and had a somewhat mixed experience. On the positive side, the food was good for bar food, and was served hot and fresh. There wasn't a huge crowd, and our food was ready quickly, which was nice. The burgers were good - we enjoyed the Bonus Burger and the Mushroom Swiss (mostly for the breaded mushrooms included) quite a bit. The patties were cooked well but could have used a little more seasoning on the grill, in my opinion. The staff was pretty preoccupied with chatting with one another and the "regulars", and it was up to us to come up to the bar and flag them down to place any orders for food or drinks. The food was delivered to the table, but the drinks and the bill had to be requested up front. The décor was fine - lots of Trump and 2nd Amendment, which is what you get up in the great north, so I won't mark anything off for that; just know what you're in for. They have dollar bills signed and stapled all over the place, which can be kind of fun to read. Lots of wood and cabin-y décor, which I like. One of the female waitresses were super disrespectful and rude right along with the manager/owner. The female waitress was over aggressive and super wrong about a “name” being called on the receipt that to my family and I DID NOT PUT ON THERE NOR WOULD WE!! Once she tried to accuse my little sister who’s name was on the receipt (which again she didn’t do) she tried to accuse my friend (which she also didn’t do) ((none of us did!)) Rather then resolving an issue like MATURE ADULTS, she proceeded to make things worse! We got our money back and left without even eating. Definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND! Racist/discriminative like atmosphere and very unwelcoming to people of color or different...

This is the second time I've been there and the servers were extremely rude and negligent. Ignored us for a while, so we made our presence known. Still, waited over half an hour to get drinks and order food, while the servers and bartenders either helped customers who had just arrived or sat around chatting with regulars. Never offered water or a refill on drinks. Interrupted me with the total price of the drinks before I could even ask for food. Terrible service overall. Gave 1 star because the food was good. Won't be back, nor would I recommend this...
