Four of us—all longtime restaurant folks—popped into Tell Tales Trattoria on a Sunday, just looking for a quick bite and a couple drinks. We didn’t go all-in on a full meal, just split the Cuban Pickle Crisis sandwich and a flatbread, and both were absolutely fantastic.
The Cuban Pickle Crisis was packed with flavor—such a fun and well-executed twist on a classic. The flatbread was just as impressive—crispy, fresh, and loaded with flavor. You could tell everything was made with care and intention.
We also tried a few cocktails, and they were seriously great. Well-balanced, creative, and clearly made by someone who knows what they’re doing behind the bar. Definitely not your average mixed drinks.
The ambiance is cozy and stylish, the kind of place that feels just as perfect for a casual afternoon drink as it would for a nice dinner out.
Service was warm and professional. Friendly without being overbearing, and really attentive to details. It felt like we were in good hands from the second we walked in.
Since it was a Sunday, we were kind of hoping for a few more brunch options on the menu—but what we had, we really enjoyed. Just something to consider, especially for a spot that nails everything else so well.
If we had one other small suggestion, it’d be the music. It didn’t quite match the vibe. Something like Frank Sinatra, Al Martino, or Dean Martin would pair perfectly with the ambiance and elevate the whole experience even more.
That aside, everything else was spot-on. Food, drinks, service, atmosphere—it’s all there. Coming from four people who’ve each worked in restaurants for years, that’s saying something. We’ll definitely be back, and we’re already recommending...
Read moreMy husband and I, and another couple went out to dinner last weekend at Tell Tales in Holland, MI. The service was not good. It took over an hour to get our food. I ordered the Beef Bolognese ($27) my husband ordered Seafood Pasta (Frutti De Mare) ($32) and our friends ordered a 14inch Seafood Pizza ($31). The server never told us that they ran out of scallops which should’ve been on both the pizza and the seafood pasta. My husband brought it to the servers attention and she said that they ran out of scallops. Not sure why she wouldn’t have told us before we ordered. The Beef Bolognese was dry like they may have made it a day or two before. The seafood pasta and the seafood pizza had very little flavor. I ordered a house Pinot Noir it was a very small pour for $18. Later found out that they didn’t have a house Pinot Noir. Not sure why the server wouldn’t have told me that they did not have a house Pinot Noir. We were unhappy with our entrees and the service. They did give my husband $5 off on his seafood pasta and they took off $3 from the seafood pizza. One positive thing is that the ambiance is very nice. We will not be returning to Tell-Tales in Holland, MI...
Read moreI visited just over a week ago, and this was the first time I’ve been back to this location since it was Parkway Inn. I know it’s not trying to replace that and times have changed, I wasn’t expecting to have the same experience. The atmosphere was nice, except for I felt like tables were really close together. I was on a girls night date so we tried a few different things and they were fine. The “small” smoked Caesar salad ($10) was extremely tiny, the taste was good, but I didn’t taste anything smokey about it. I also got the artichoke flatbread ($19) it was good, I replaced the peppers with green olives and thought the taste was good. I was disappointed by my tiny margarita that I asked for house tequila and found on the bill it was $13. Overall, it was too expensive for what I got. For it being the only restaurant this far out on S.Shore Dr, it should have more of a welcoming price point. There’s no reason that a bill for just myself should’ve cost as much as it did...
