Up till about 6 months ago when traveling this way I have stopped at NORTH 40 for the last 36 years. One Sunday I stopped there to eat and the restaurant was closed due to a water break, this is when I decided to try Patty's. No more, the last few times I stopped there the breakfast buffet was closed. I was there this morning at 0950 sat right in front against the wall and other people came in after me and sat down all around me. The waitress acknowledged me when I came in but at 1022, I still had received no service although everyone else had. Finally she came to my table brought me a menu, again 10 more minutes b4 she returned i asked for decaf and breakfast buffet was told buffet was empty and not to be refilled. Decaf was out another 10 minutes for it, so I ordered 2 biscuits 1 country ham one tenderloin to go with cheese and tomato on both. They came I paid and left no offer of a bag for 2 containers, condiments or nap. I get 20 miles down the road stop to eat and discover that the cheese and tomato WAS NOT ON EITHER BISCUIT. THE COUNTRY HAM SLICE WAS ABOUT THE SIZE OF 50cent piece and tenderloin was so tough I couldn't eat it so I decided since customer service isn't so important neither is my business. I DO NOT RECOMMEND UNLESS YOU ARE A LOCAL WHO ALREADY UNDERSTANDS THE PISS POOR SERVICE AND FOOD QUALITY. Just so you know the biscuits cost me $8 plus tip what a RIPOFF. You may not appreciate my rant but I try to support the mom and pop establishments and expect...
Read moreFor some reason the sweet potato was sour and the baked potato was old enough the flavor was starting to change, but the rest of our food was good. (Having worked food service, I fully admit I wasn't sure it was going to be off until I tasted it so neither issue is an overall negative. It's just what it was.) I'm sure they would have offered to replace them, but we were tired and hungry so we didn't ask. When we were keaving, it was mentioned, and they were going to see if they could figure out how a sweet potato ended up sour. It was a bit vinegary in nature, so it might have just been an accidental cross contamination from a knife. Staff were all very friendly, good natured, and willing to joke around a bit. The atmosphere was cozy and entertaining while we waited for our meals. It's older items mostly 50+ years old in appearance, and we really enjoy those types of things. Overall, it was a good...
Read moreIf you’re driving on this quiet stretch of I-40 and you’re looking for some good home cooking, pull in to Patty’s, turn around, get back on the highway, go home and start cooking. With the exception of the onion rings, every bite was awful. Tried to do a vegetarian meal, and got the macaroni and cheese. Well, that’s what arrived: a tiny bowl of macaroni pasta swimming in a butter sauce (?) and a small handful of shredded cheese, not even melted. I’m pretty sure the grilled vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower and carrots) came right out of the freezer and were grilled where some ham was just grilled. Fried green tomatoes were sliced very thin and coated with very salty cornmeal. The service was so slow that a.) I expected there was a lot of care going into the cooking, and b.) I was so hungry I had to eat every awful...
