Cleaned up Google review:
This place is tucked right at the mouth of a creek that feeds the Lehigh River, making it such a neat location. The erosive force of the river dances in harmony with the curves of the Appalachian Mountains, creating a breathtaking view from the far bank.
The establishment is large and spacious, with plenty of nooks and crannies where you can find privacy. Whether you prefer one of the few fire pits, a table overlooking the creekside, the game room, indoor arrangements, or one of their covered outdoor bars and tables, you can enjoy food and drink service wherever you choose.
On this particular evening, I decided to clear my head with a little fishing since I arrived during the dinner hour and knew there would be a wait for my food.
It's unfortunate that for every bad review, there are at least 10 outstanding reviews that never get posted because people have other priorities. While standing in the water, I overheard comments about the quality of the food and the treatment of servers. Unreasonable expectations and ignorance in understanding the process of food and beverage distribution often lead to negative reviews. Tonight, a group of individuals left a one-star review and displayed nothing but rudeness and misery from the moment they sat down.
It's a shame that restaurants don't have the opportunity to defend themselves and their staff members against those who express their dissatisfaction with belittlement and reprimand towards the server. Servers rely on tips as part of their income, so there are no repercussions for customers who complain about the timeliness of their order when they arrive during the dinner rush. This lack of character is truly despicable.
Every time I've been to this place, the food and service have been outstanding. It can get crowded at times, especially during themed events, so be prepared to wait. I must warn you, the gumbo is in a league of its own, but it's not always available since they make it fresh and it's very popular. I highly recommend trying it, just make sure to get there early.
Before posting a review, I urge you to sleep on it and think about the world outside of your bubble. Use logic and set attainable expectations. The pace at which servers work for hours on end would be overwhelming for many of those who feel the need to write negative reviews. Spreading your misery at the expense of others is unjust and affects the lives of those working hard to provide a...
Read moreIf I could give this place a 0, I would. Our first visit in June was excellent: our server, entrees, and atmosphere were top notch. We even stayed to drink more as we enjoyed it so much. The second visit was last October, and we sat inside. Our server barely checked on us, our food took long, drinks were forgotten, and everything was mediocre, yet we bragged about how wonderful our trip in June was to the friends we took along. We thought it was simply an ‘off’ night. Our last trip was this October. The server sat us inside although we asked to sit outside. She told us outside was closed, yet after seating us inside, it was only then she told us we could have sat outside, but we’d have to order from the bar(?). Upon asking for our drink order, our server had to clarify with the bartender from across the room, and the bartender seemed irritated about this. My water was forgotten, so I had to ask for it again. We tried very much to show empathy for our busy waitress, however she was assigned only two tables, and when seeing her smoking a cigarette outside when making a trip to restroom, it was difficult to understand why we weren’t checked on, or given water, etc., even for a busy night. Then, when taking our food order, my husband ordered the pasta, but was interrupted by our server, who informed us it was no longer on the menu, and hasn’t been for a long time. We ordered medium rare steaks, which were served medium to well done, and loaded baked potatoes, which were very old judging by the brown color they were at the bottoms. When showing the server the brown potatoes, her response was strangely defensive instead of apologetic, and no offer for a replacement or discount was made; a bill was instead handed to us, with no more words. Our night was ruined, until we went to Joey B’s in Palmerton. Go there instead. Their staff, food, and atmosphere is far better...
Read moreWondering if this place is under new ownership or is hurting from COVID? I haven't been here in a while and my husband and I decided to go. True, it was only 5:15pm when we arrived but the parking lot was nearly empty which surprised me. We were seated outside, which is what we wanted, but then we're told we'd have to order our drinks and food from the bar! Seriously??? My husband went up to order for us, and needed to pay then. A screen came up asking if he'd like to leave a tip! Before we receive our food? When no one was serving us? That was either presumptuous or confidence! Hubby said he had 3 choices: 18%, 25%, or 35%! WOW, I have no words. Call me mean, but my husband is way too nice sometimes and left 18% to which he received an eye roll from the girl who took his order. Before anyone replies, my husband and I are GREAT tippers. We both work and have worked thankless jobs and have gone out of our way to let a manager know what a great server we had, and we've been known to be super generous around the holidays. It also bothered me that one of (I guess) bartenders came out from behind the bar with a pair of those yoga shorts that are often mistaken for underwear. This was no young girl either and her butt cheeks were hanging out - not exactly appetizing!!! The menu used to have way more choices and this place was known for its homemade condiments, but my ketchup was totally Heinz and the BBQ sauce was straight out of a bottle. I was super disappointed - especially since we drove all the way from Stroudsburg! Now, I did give 3 stars because a server did come over and got us more ketchup, bbq sauce, napkins, and was sweet enough to reheat my husband's baked potato when he asked for more butter and sour cream. Honestly though, she was the only good thing about this place. Sadly, I don't think we'll...
