It was my first time at the Carriage House, upon entering the doors, we stood there for at least five minutes without anyone acknowledging us. The servers walked past multiple times not looking at any of us or even attempting to give eye contact or to say that they would be with us soon. It took a lot not to walk out, feeling we were invisible. When we were finally seated our chairs were so rickety we thought we were going to fall to the floor it was so uncomfortable especially if your a taller person. The server was very pleasant and I don't blame her for the long waits to get our drinks and our food order, that's on the bartender and the cooks. I was looking forward to having the lobster roll special. When it arrived I was so disappointed, it looked like a child portion, it was served on a typical hotdog roll but it was only toasted on one side and I had one claw and a small amount of shredded lobster and the roll was only half full, it was about three bites. The coleslaw was even smaller with two bite of that, and I had like 6 fries on my plate, needless to say It was more plate than food. I Know what do you want for 15.00 bucks. It was a laugh at our table. I expect to be satisfied. This night was a waste of time and money. I will not go back. I can only hope they get better at pleasing their customers. I suggest you try "Shain's of Maine" in Sanford you will be surprise at the lobster roll, fires and chowder you can get for less. $13.99 Best of Luck, A serious...
Read moreLet me start off by saying the waitress was exceptional seeing she was the only one in the whole restaurant running for every single table so hats off to her if this rating was based off of her it would be a 5! But I am rating this a 2 because we all ended up ordering fish at our table except 1 which got the pot roast which she said was decent nothing special. As for the fish I have never tasted salmon so dry in my life and on top of that I ordered it medium And it was beyond well done felt like I was chewing into leather As for the other 2 dishes they were both haddock and they 2 were completely dried out! I don't know if the chef needs retraining on how to cook fish but it was not a pleasant meal. Seeing how I've been into culinary myself he should be either pressing it to feel when the salmon is done or temperature gage but it it only takes 4 min on the presentation side and 3 min on the bottom and thats for well done so his was more like 5/6min on each side but no I would not...
Read moreService was sort of iffy, but I admit it might have been because our server seemed to be a little overwhelmed. Totally understandable.
My husband and I ordered the bar jam, which was really delicious, but I was hoping for something a little more decadent or higher quality than the toasted/slightly burnt slices of French bread that accompanied it.
We also ordered the coconut chicken tenders as an appetizer. I felt the coconut topping was rather run of the mill, and the chicken itself was a little dry/stringy. They gave us a very small amount of dipping sauce and when we asked for another type, they said it wasn't available so we had to settle for something else, which was again, serviceable.
I ordered the orange chili lo mein, and while I understand that it's not exactly a Chinese food place, I was hoping for something a little bit tastier than what I ordered. It was good enough to eat, but I wouldn't order it again if I returned.
Drinks were made to order and...
