I love going to little mom and pop shops whenever and wherever I may be. I'd rather give my money to help out a small business than to any of these big-name corporations, period.
So my son and I decided to try out this little pizza shop when we were dog sitting for our pastor and his wife recently. Don't judge my following order. Half of it was intended for leftovers in mind. lol I ordered the 5 meat pizza, an Italian sub, chef salad, wings, cheesy garlic bread, and the kind patient gentleman("DK") taking my order at the time and answering all my questions about menu items etc , generously made us an order of his Chapate mix on the house, for us to try as we dined in for the first time. It was so good, packed with flavor, so finger licking good, a light refreshing dish full of textures, and a multitude of flavorful notes that positively hit every taste bud in your mouth I could seriously eat that dish a few times a week if I lived closer. The Hornets Nest has delicious pizza with a robust sauce, a perfect amount of toppings that generously cover your pie from edge to edge without skimping you of any yummy toppings regardless of the size bite you take. The crust has a nice crunch to it, not doughy, burnt, or undercooked but baked to a nice golden brown perfection. The sub had great meat, cheese, and toppings to bread ratio. Nice portion for the price, and the bread has a nice "chew" to it. Great portion for the salad, and all the veggies looked nice and crisp, not wilted or soggy. Cheesy garlic bread had a good "chew" to it and a generous amount of cheese to meet all the cheese lovers' satisfactions out there. The wings were a little small and mostly drums but still good nonetheless. Prices were affordable, and customer service was outstanding! I will definitely be a repeat customer whenever I'm in the area needing great food for an affordable price. Happy customer with a full belly. :)
Food and customer service 5 out...
Read moreI ordered a pizza from here several months ago and had it delivered. I know we all have our specific styles, and while I do like thin/crisp crust pizza, it left a bit more to be desired, to be frank. It wasn't bad, but it was not great.
As long as I don't have a horrific first experience with a restaurant, I tend to give them a second go regardless ... especially italian/pizza joints. With that said, I decided to give their stromboli and lasagna a try, but this time I went and picked it up.
Anyhow, they had the order ready before the time they promised. The lady was very nice and asked me to spin a wheel. Wasn't sure what she was talking about until she pointed at it. I got 10% off the order, which I didnt expect, nor ask for ... but appreciate.
I got the food home, and the large stromboli could feed 3 people(and I have a big appetite at times). It was the perfect temperature, and the sauce paired well with it. The ingredients seemed fresh as well.
The next test was to see how it tasted reheated. Throwing it in an airfryer for about 10 minutes at around 300 degrees for dinner, it tasted just as good, if not better. The spices and seasoning they put on the outside of it pairs really well.
I did have a small taste of the lasagna which was also very good, but it doesn't beat mine :).
Overall, even though I am not particularly fond of the pizza(and we all have different preferences and tastes, so don't keep that from you trying it), everything today was really good! The staff also makes it a nice place, and I will most likely be ordering again in the future.
If I could give an accurate rating, it would be 4.5, just because of my opinion of the pizza. However, they deserve 5 vs 4, because of the customer...
Read moreRe-opened under new owners and initially we had a wonderful experience every time we've ordered since the original owners retired. However, tonight I had to repeat my very simple order (12" 5 meat w/pineapple, 12" black olive & green pepper) three times. When my husband arrived to pick up the order one of the pizza's was completely burnt, there was a worker walking around eating pizza, and another looking around like he wasn't sure how to make pizza.
As I am writing this review my husband just arrived home with 2 incorrect pizzas (one partial meat no pineapple and 1 cheese). After being on hold for almost 5mins, I drove over, explained the situation, talked to the owner and they remade our order correctly.
I think the new owners need to do some re-training or re-hiring if they want to maintain the business reputation Hornet's Nest has and not lose their...
