So I made the drive all the way from Lexington to try this joint. This place was good but definitely not amazing. I ordered the 4 tender meal with fries. I also ordered the mash potatoes and cole slaw so that I could say that I tried most of the sides. The guy who was the cashier told me my meal came with cole slaw. To my dismay I got all the way to my car and was pulling off before I realized he was wrong. It didn’t come with cole slaw😔. So I didn’t get to try that. He also charged me 75cents to switch out the cash’s sauce for barbecue sauce. Why ? It was even swap🤷🏽♀️. Didn’t care for that. Anyway, the fries were those extra crispy crinkle cuts. While they were hot, they were not good. This is just a personal preference however. I hate extra crispy fries. Those went out the window on my way home. The mashed potatoes were stiff and not creamy with barely melted shredded cheese on them topped with salty bacon bits👎. Not good. The best thing were the tenders. They were not too greasy or salty. They were juicy and tender. That 75cent homemade barbecue sauce paired very well with it. Overall, the people were friendly and the establishment was clean. The price was also reasonable. My food came to about 13bucks and that was including the drink which comes with pretty much every meal. Overall I would return but only if I happen to be in the...
Read moreThis place is similar in menu and concept to a Raising Cane's or Zaxby's; however, Cash's executes this concept well.
I ordered their smallest combo, the 4 piece tenders, with fries and a bird dog on the side. Despite others complaints, I thought the tenders were of normal size for a tenderloin and the 4 piece combo was definitely enough to feed a normal human. At $8ish dollars, the food was a good value for the quality and even included a drink, sauce, and honey butter croissant.
The croissant was oddly my favorite part and was surprisingly fresh and flaky. I'm usually not a fan of crinkle-cut fries, as they're usually soggy, but these were very hot and crisp. The chicken itself was very tender and appropriately breaded. I wasn't crazy about the bird dog, but this was related more to personal preferences than quality. I would have appreciated more honey mustard as I couldn't taste any, and I wish the cheese was of higher quality. If I'm being particular, I also thought the Cash's sauce was too salty, but I still enjoyed it.
The service was friendly and the restaurant itself was close to immaculate for a fast food restaurant.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place if you're in the area and in the mood for some chicken tenders, but it's probably not unique enough to warrant a long drive...
Read moreThere's no fried chicken?!
We dined in in Tuesday. Crowded at lunchtime, but we had our order taken right away. We might be missing something, but the only menu options were 3, 4, or 5 tenders.
I did the four tender meal, fries, and got a bird dog on the side.
First, the food was ready quickly, and the fries and chicken were nice and hot. Chicken was seasoned well.
But damn. The size of the tenders? They're small! Like McDonald chicken nugget small. Now Chappy's at Palmetto Crossing, their tenders are HUGE and less expensive. The size was disappointing to the price of the meal.
The bird dog was good! Honey mustard with bacon on a chicken tender, all within a bun. But again, the size was disappointing.
Cash's tasted great, but the portion size was disappointing. And still trying to grasp how a chicken restaurant doesn't sell fried chicken.
On a positive note, the staff was very friendly and attentive. Decent sweet tea as well. The decor was nice, but the restaurant menu just gave the vibe of a glofified Zaxby's.
We will return, though Cash's isn't the type restaurant we'd visit frequently, since the menu is so narrow. Hopefully in the future I can...
