Worth the drive. Hands down one of the best restaurants in the swva area. Farm-to-table usually comes with a price tag to make one cry but you'll leave with a respectful portion of food for extreemly reasonable rates. If you're traveling through, make the stop. First thing to know: their hours are limited. Second the menu rotates based on what's available. This means you're always eating very fresh food. There is ample parking available across the street and the sleepy town provides a perfect backdrop for this truely hidden gem. The second we entered service was exceptional and carried on through to the end of our meal with questions being run by the chef and drink refills being quick. We started with appetizers and drinks. Hushpupies and bone marrow, a seasonal sour and wine. As with all puppies they made our day better. The remoulade spread paired with it was excellent and not overpowering. Unfortunately the bone marrow was not up to par being salty and almost unpalatable with a consistency of coagulation which is a far cry from a standard orders in other restaurants. We did finish it so I feel lukewarm about how harsh my words reflect on what otherwise was a perfect dining experience. Our server did pass the comments on to the chef happily. The main course was an offering of trout and a TV dinner. The double filet trout cooked perfectly lay aside a nest of spinach and caramelized scallion and standard roast red potatoes. Not to be hyperbolic but the greens might have been the best part of the meal. which is saying a lot as the entrée were amazing. The TV dinner was novel and served on a metal tray. Sweet chipotle chutney adorned the breast and added a textural flavor to the chicken which I didn't know I was missing. An interesting side of gourmet cheese and grits and brussel sprouts cooked the only right way ( ill pick this hill to die on) filled in all the corners of my stomach and left me satisfied. To be clear halfed and fried or baked. A gluten free chocolate brownie was the last treat to finish off the date night, except of course the look on my girlfriend satisfied face from a really great evening. The manager or owner had a chat with us near the end and everyone who helped it intersected with us left us feeling respected and welcomed. Ill be back, and I've been telling everyone I know about this gem.

This was hard for our GPS to find, but really worth it. Tried the mussels, pizza, greek salad and strawberry-rhubarb creme brulee. Mussels were great, though challenging as a shared app as nowhere to put shells. The restaurant is surrounded by nothing, and while they made room for us it's worth getting a reservation during graduation season. The whole place is charming, the staff is friendly and courteous, and you can tell they are sourcing and using high-quality ingredients. The cheese pizza was good (I'd asked for it well-done based on the pizza I saw coming in) which had some nice char and flavor, but you should eat it all as the leftovers turned to rock the next day. The creme brulee was mild, but delicious. Honestly looking forward to going back, the prices were very reasonable for the quality and you could really tell they care about what they're doing. --- Edit: I've been back several times, and while everything is almost always great there are some misses: - It's worth going here for the hush puppies alone. They're that good. - They have a hibiscus cake that likely shouldn't have been sent to customers. Dry, dense, and lacking in flavor. - I've ordered it several times now and there's just something wrong with their pizza dough as-is, coming out with little to no color on the bottom -- it has the flop of a Neapolitan without any of the crisp or flavor, and combined with pepperoni or other ingredients and it's kind of a mess. It's a shame, as so much of their food is of a far higher quality and you can tell the ingredients themselves are high-quality. Something is just going wrong with the dough recipe and bake time for their oven.

The Palisades Restaurant is a pretty downright amazing dining experience. The environment is warm, the staff and owner are kind and helpful, and the food is phenomenal (and reasonably priced). Took my girlfriend here as a little surprise and we both left, swearing we'd go back! I had the Ribeye Steak on a bed of Sriracha/Bleu Cheese Mashed Potatoes, with some sort of marinated cabbage/leek combo on the side - When I ordered, I asked if the chef could try to cook it between Rare and Medium Rare, expecting one or the other, and I swear it was EXACTLY what I asked for - hands-down, BEST Ribeye I have ever eaten - and I've tried Frankie Rowland's quite a few times. The Sriracha taters were *just* spicy enough (not ruin your tastebuds, spicy, but perfect, "it's got a little kick," spicy... Perfect ( I didn't know if Bleu Cheese was going to go with the dish that well, but I think it had a sort of dousing effect on the heat from the Sriracha). Lastly, the marinade on the veggies was better than you'd think - would probably make someone who didn't like vegetables, ask for more... My girlfriend got the Stuffed Rosemary Pork Shank which was AMAZING, but to be quite honest, other than trying a bite, I was too consumed with my own dish to pay her's any mind! Great Place! We will be frequenting this place as much as possible. Cheers!

Title: A Delightful Experience at The Palisades

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Palisades, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Even though the restaurant was packed on a Sunday due to live music, the bustling atmosphere only added to the vibrant energy of the place.

Upon entering, I immediately noticed the local decor, which lent the restaurant a charming and cozy ambiance. It felt like a true gem tucked away in the middle of Giles county. The attention to detail in creating a warm and inviting setting was truly commendable.

The staff at The Palisades exceeded my expectations. Both the waitress and host were incredibly friendly, accommodating, and attentive throughout my visit. Their genuine warmth and professionalism made me feel welcome and ensured that I had an enjoyable dining experience.

Now, let's talk about the food. I started my meal with the focaccia bread, and it was a delightful beginning to my culinary journey. The bread was freshly baked, fluffy, and had just the right amount of herbs and seasoning. It served as the perfect appetizer to whet my appetite.

For the main course, I opted for the trout with veggies, while my partner ordered the crab cakes. The crab cakes were nothing short of spectacular, and I can confidently say they were the best I have ever had. The succulent crab meat was expertly seasoned, and each bite was a burst of flavor. My partner couldn't stop raving about them!

Although the trout was slightly lacking in seasoning, the overall quality and freshness of the dish shone through. The accompanying vegetables were cooked to perfection and complemented the fish nicely. Despite the slight blandness, the overall taste of the meal was still enjoyable.

I must also commend the owner of The Palisades for their exceptional customer service. I accidentally left my purse with my wallet at the restaurant, and to my surprise and relief, the owner personally delivered it to my house. This act of kindness and honesty left a lasting impression on me and exemplified the values of this establishment.

All in all, I wholeheartedly recommend The Palisades to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. From the fantastic service to the mouthwatering crab cakes and fresh ingredients, this restaurant has left me eager to return soon. Whether you're a local or a visitor to the area, The Palisades is definitely a culinary destination...

This is our second time visiting the Palisades. The first time was a few years ago, and we were underwhelmed, but decided to try it again for Father's Day.

The ambience - 5 stars - the building is very nice and it's a nice drive to get there. The wait staff was friendly.

Here's what we ordered (on June 15), and what we thought:

-Spicy Shrimp Dip - very tasty, however the presence of shrimp was not noticeable to me. It seemed more like a cheese dip.

-Korean Cheesesteak Pizza - This pizza had very few toppings - the portions of the beef were so small, there was perhaps a teaspoon of meat on each slice of pizza. I assumed when the menu said it had "bibimbap" on it, that meant the traditional chili sauce that accompanies Korean bibimbap. The sauce that was very lightly drizzled on the top of the pizza was sweet, and not like the chili sauce at all. The pizza tasted fine, but it was more like eating a thin, cheese pizza, instead of what we expected.

-A BBQ pork pizza with bourbon BBQ sauce (a special that night) - This pizza was a little better than the Korean pizza because the BBQ sauce made it not so dry. However, again, the toppings were very light. The taste was fine, but we were underwhelmed.

*Side note concerning the pizzas - a neighboring table had a Supreme pizza that had a lot of toppings, and pictures from other reviewers also show a lot of toppings - that was not what we received last night, so maybe it was a fluke?

-Bibb Salad - This salad was chosen because it had pork belly. We expected the pork belly to be crispy and fatty, however it seemed that the fat part was removed, as it was just the meaty-part of the pork belly that came with the salad. It tasted fine, it just wasn't what was expected.

-Coffee - The coffee was good, but it would be nicer if the half and half came in a small ceramic (or other material) pitcher, instead of just disposable cups. I'm sure the person who made the plates would be happy to make them!

Obviously, a lot of people really like this restaurant, and I'm sure other things are really good. We just haven't personally been impressed with the food on either...
