Our first visit on a Saturday night wasn’t great, so we decided to give this place another shot on a Friday night—especially since my neighbor raved about it as a “brilliant” spot. Unfortunately, the service was just as underwhelming.
From the moment we sat down, our waitress immediately asked for our drink and food order before we even had a chance to get comfortable. We were hoping for a relaxed dinner, so we took our time to decide. Once we ordered, the appetizers arrived quickly.
The ceviche with rocoto sauce was phenomenal—probably the best ceviche I’ve had locally. However, the choros a la chalaca were a disappointment. It was overwhelmingly acidic with too much lemon and salt, and oddly served without the shells, which took away from the experience.
As soon as we finished the appetizers, the staff cleared our table almost instantly, clearly eager to bring out the main course—even though it was only 8:00 PM and there were still plenty of open tables. We felt rushed, not relaxed.
The main course came out right away. I ordered tallarines saltados, expecting a stir-fried noodle dish, but was surprised to find it served more like a soup. The meat was lean and flavorful, but the dish overall was not what I expected.
After we finished eating, we waited nearly 20 minutes with empty plates in front of us. Staff passed by repeatedly but never acknowledged our table or cleared the dishes. Eventually, we stacked the plates ourselves to get someone’s attention—but still, no one responded. We had to ask again just to get dessert and the check. The dessert and coffee came… but the check didn’t. We had to request it again after finishing everything.
The food, in general, was good—especially the ceviche—but the service needs serious improvement. Until that changes, it’s hard to justify returning, no matter how “brilliant”...
Read moreOur dining experience at Tacu Taku was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal. To start, we indulged in a glass of their delicious Sangria, which was perfectly balanced and refreshing. The tequeños lomo salteados were crispy on the outside, oozing with goodness, and paired wonderfully with the tangy dipping sauce. And oh, the ceviche carretillero—a delightful mix of fresh seafood bathed in a zesty citrus sauce—was an explosion of flavors in every bite. For the main course, we couldn’t resist trying the Tacu Taku a lo pobre. Tender slices of beef, perfectly seasoned, sat beside a bed of tacu taku rice. The fried egg on top added a comforting touch, and the whole dish was a symphony of textures and tastes. And let’s not forget dessert! The merengado de chirimoya stole the show. Creamy, sweet, and utterly irresistible, it left us craving more. Paired with an amazing espresso and a rich cortadito, our meal was complete. But what truly elevated our experience was the impeccable service. Marcelo, our server, anticipated our needs, explained each dish with enthusiasm, and made us feel like honored guests. And when Miquel, the owner, stopped by our table for a chat, it added a personal touch that made us feel like family. Tacu Taku is a hidden gem in West Broward. Whether you’re a seasoned foodie or just looking for a memorable meal, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. Bravo to the entire team for creating such a delightful dining experience! We will be...
