Vickey's Soul Grill Restaurant & Catering — Restaurant in Penn Hills

I usually enjoy whatever I order from VSG, but yesterday, I was extremely disappointed. I ordered 3 wings, mac and cheese, and yam juice.

The wings were crispy on the outside but not fully cooked on the inside. The meat was gummy and had a cranberry color ( like dried blood) around the bones and meat. Yuck and yikes!

The Mac and cheese would've been better if some of the noodles weren't crunchy and if the cheese on top was fully melted.

Also, when I phoned in my order, I was unaware that they now have 2 locations. One in Penn Hills ( cater events) and the other in Wilkinsburg ( Hosanna House dine in/ take out). Guess which one I went to 1st.🤦🏽‍♀️

My transaction at Vickeys Soul Grill Takeout has been updated from $15.78 to include tip. The new total is $18.78.

Question? I wonder if this unfortunate experience can be rectified🤷🏽‍♀️

On a brighter note, the customer service was excellent! The young lady who took my order was professional and polite. The kitchen and dining hall were clean...

Ordered $70 worth of food 2 dinners and extra couple sides to try being 1st time. I cook soul food I know what it's supposed to taste like. This food was terrible! Smothered pork chops tough not cooked fresh tasted like they were fried in fish grease then gravy poured over . Mac n cheese mediocre not cooked this evening, cabbage had absolutely no seasoning on it not a dash of pepper, onions nothing . Sweet potatoes meh not candied nope. Green beans no seasoning, fish dinner cold fish not fried recently, I know everyone has their way of cooking but the event you had going on must've taken priority over the take our orders. We really wanted to support but this was really a bad experience.. the food was previously cooked and given to us cold. My first impression of walking in was it smelled like your favorite aunts house. The restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is inviting. The waitress was very nice and was great at making sure she suggested things to give us just what we needed. The Cod dinner I had was in a to go container although I ate there. The aroma was so fulfilling it was like having an appetizer. My fish was cooked to perfection. Crispy on outside and flaky on the inside. Seasoned perfect a nice thick filet. Make cheese had that snap back on it delicious. Cornbread soft and buttery and greens seasoned like Thanksgiving. I was able to meet Ms Vickie.she is kind loves what she does and is serious about how she delivers service. Hands down the best soulfood spot in the city. I'm willing to argue about it. Lol. Do your self a favor...
