The bread here is amazing! Plus, portion sizes are big, so there is plenty of bang for your buck. I usually end up taking half my meal home in a doggie bag. I’ve been to other Italian restaurants where the bread is hard and dry, and they are skimpy with the pasta sauce – NOT so at Amato’s! This place truly has the most wonderfully soft, mouthwatering, fresh bread, and there is always plenty of sauce to go with your pasta. I often start with a small salad – it doesn’t boast much in the way of variety, but it’s always fresh. The waitstaff are cordial and polite. I’ve eaten here at least a dozen times and only remember one mistake with an order (understandably because our waitress was still in-training). The décor seems slightly at war with itself. It’s like one owner wanted a sports bar & grill with tv screens mounted on the wall, while the other wanted a traditional carpeted restaurant. What you get is something of a comprise between the two. So, the ambience is a little off kilter, but the food is still well worth it. Amato’s has quickly become a family favorite of ours. If you’re on the fence, I urge you to...
Read moreWe were seated, given menus, soda, then told it would be an hour before they could get to our order because of all the call in orders for takeout. Your inside customers come first. This is a sit down Italian restaurant, not a fast-food drive thru. Needless to say we left, and won't be back. After a long gap in eating here I decided to give it a try. I was the only person in the dining room. I had a young (small girl, long dark hair) immature server who paraded all the other workers she could find to walk past my table, stare at me and laugh. The first girl was so obvious, then a few others, one at a time repeated the ridiculous behavior. What they were laughing at is beyond me, because I was eating alone? The behavior was rude and childish. I know good help is hard to find but surely than can do better than that. I doubt I'll...
Read moreThe best garlic bread I've ever had in my entire life!! It has been probably 15 years since I visited Selinsgrove and had the garlic bread here. I still think about it every time I eat other, inferior garlic bread. I live across the country now and, if I could afford it, I would catch a plane right this very second to go have this garlic bread again. I tried to recreate it a few times years ago. I got close but never replicated it. It is heaven and I would probably sacrifice a limb to have the recipe. I'm not sure if I'll ever make it back to Selinsgrove. But, if I'm ever on death row, this will be on my last meal wishlist. It's that good, y'all. This is how garlic bread is supposed to be made. (I hope their recipe is still the same and...
