That was a really nice experience. I needed food. Everyone in Steinhatchee recommended this place. Now I see why. It was the perfect place to stop off and grab something fresh and delicious. I was on a very long road trip. The music created a very relaxing atmosphere. It started to get busy. According to all the regulars, they're the only place that can handle the big crowds. My fried shrimp came to the table in less than 8 minutes. What made that place great was the service . From the front door to the exit . The staff there was really professional. My server Paula is very knowledgeable and knew the menu. She is a prime example of above and beyond. She knew I was dining by myself and gave me that little extra bit of attention that made it an even more enjoyable experience. Even the food Runners would look at you and smile as they ran by sweating. After covid, the restaurant business has really suffered. But this place hasn't. You can have the best food in the world, but if your service sucks. They're not going to come back. The reason he's so successful is because of the staff. After 46 years in the restaurant business, I know that he's a good operator, and he treats his employees with respect. Because it shows in his restaurant. When you take a road trip to Steinhatchee, I highly recommend you stop in check it out for yourself. The best part about my photography business . Are the adventures that I go on to capture all the beautiful places that surround us. I hope that when you go to Steinhatche, you'll definitely go to Kathy's crabs. You won't be...
Read moreNot sure what the fuss is about with this place. At first glance. Seemed ok but prices are very high for a sleepy little fishing village. That would have been ok if the service and food were at the caliber of the price but unfortunately neither were. I had the Tuna Steak, came as ordered but fried okra was frozen battered okra that was brought to the table in a styrofoam cup and soggy. Wife and I both ordered baked potatoes but received dry, overcooked potatoes with little breakfast joint butter packets and miniature plastic condiment cups of sour cream. T $25/ plate, I expected a potatoe split and already melting the toppings. -so much for expectations. Couldn't even get the potatoes to mash in order to spread butter or cream. Now for the really disappointing part... Wife ordered fried flounder and shrimp... came to the table with a few shrimp that were pretty good but the flounder was a whole fish, checker board cut and fried whole. It was delivered to the table staring at her.... she couldn't stomach a single bite. (There was no indication on the menu the fish would be served whole). Never saw the server again
Would have liked to send back the potatoes for fries or something else but no waitress ever came back to check on our meal
My wife finally asked for the cars keys and left. I, still not having received a bill, went to the counter... paid $51 for the bit we did eat and left to find somewhere else to satisfy the remaining hunger.
Wont...
Read moreI’m going to start off by saying our waitress was good, and the manager that was asked to come take care of us was also a sweetheart and did what she could.
I am veryyyyy unhappy with the food quality at Kathi’s. I’m perfectly okay paying high prices for high quality food, or at the very minimum good quality food. What is served at Kathi’s is unacceptable. Their “fresh” fish and shrimp tastes like it came out a middle school cafeteria. A little bit of seasonings would have at least covered up the poor quality taste of the food. French fries are terrible, actual cafeteria / gas station quality with those as well that taste like cardboard. The strawberry margarita should not even be considered a margarita as it was disgusting. We were served salads that had to be picked through to be able to eat because of the more than soggy brown lettuce. You know once it turns brown and dripping the yucky stuff…. Yeah yummmm. Mind you this isn’t even peak season or during a super busy rush. The manager did remake my husbands entire $50 plate, that was still disgusting. Served Ice cold and the food quality did not change. I think they did maybe throw some salt and pepper on the shrimp that time.
Kathi’s has a good staff and a good atmosphere but that’s absolutely all that they have going for them. I’m convinced if you actually enjoy their food you had to of consumed a great...
