After hearing rave reviews from my sister on how great the hamburgers were at this restaurant a week ago, I decided to try them. So we went for lunch today. It didn’t take long at all to get the food. My sister had ordered the 1/2 lb burger last week and said it was a lot of meat. So we both decided to get the 1/3 lb burger. Well, I wasn’t impressed. The burger was thin and over cooked. The lettuce was wilted and the tomato slice was old and stringy. And the bun was stale. You know, just at the point before it gets moldy. I took a bite and it was so dry I got choked. There was only a smear of mayo. It was Terrible. I had to ask for more mayo so I could eat it.
After we got our food the waitress disappeared for a good while. There was a gentleman at the desk waiting to pay seemed like 20 minutes. Before she returned there were two customers waiting to pay. The potatoes were okay. Im not a fan of cut potatoes cooked in grease. They held a lot of grease. The tea was good. However We had to wait forever to get a refill since we chugged the first glass down due to the dry burger.
This was in fact, the worst burger I have ever had. My sister could not believe how bad her burger was since last week it was delicious. I will never go back. Both of us have had very upset stomachs since lunch. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. But you never know. If you are a gambler you might get lucky and get an excellent burger. You decide if you want to toss the dice or not. I’ll go...
Read moreI should've read the reviews that were 1 star prior to coming here. I will start by saying I did like my burger, despite the need for salt and pepper.
The fries seemed as if they were either re-cooked or cooked in old grease. You're familiar with this if you've seen fries that are that dark tint. These were far from fresh.
I asked for chili and cheese. The cheese was fine. The chili? You know how when you make chili at home and it sits for a bit and gets that crusty layer across the top? Yeah I spent money for that.
Most importantly here is the vibe. You know when you're not wanted somewhere. We live in America so it goes without saying my color VS the patrons. While the waitress wasn't rude, or so I thought initially, her attitude was very nonchalant and flippant compared to the cheery "How're yall doing?!" To the elderly couple that came in after us.
The last straw was hearing the same elderly person comment "You know the food is going to be good when it's served by your own kind." followed by a giggle and a "I know right." from the waitress.
Bless whoever reads this review before coming here. Had I filtered the bad reviews first without giving this place the benefit of doubt in 2023, I would not have come. Still tipped because I'm not a bad customer, but the $44 I spent wasn't earned today....
Read moreOkay I tried the catfish basket with tartar sauce, and again delicious, it was not cook too hard but it was cooked just right and the tartar sauce tasted homemade, it may not he but it taste like it. I even found dipping my homemade fries into the tartar sauce is delicious. Something also I didn't know about Big Mike, they serve beer as well. Everytine I go to this place I enjoy it. Some people like to complain because that's all they know to do. I say try this place for yourself, the people and food are great abd you can dine in and have a beer with your meal. Im going through the menu and try everything now🤣. I wanted a Arnold Palmer, there was no lemonade and she made the lemonade while I waited so I could get my Arnold Palmer, you can not beat the service. I just really enjoy this family restaurant, you don't find to many with good food, with people who treat you like family, no matter what rave you are. God fearing, great people. They need help, I would advise any young college person out of school for the summer to apply. I say college because they do serve beer, but she maybe able to work around where you don't handle the beer. She's a wonderful woman to work for who will work around...
