If you know, you know. And if you don't... let me introduce you to Giuseppe's Pizza & Italian Restaurant in Dinwiddie, VA. This local favorite has way more than just pizza. From fried ravioli to stuffed stromboli and a seafood cannelloni with the most incredible red cream sauce, this spot surprised me in the best way. #dinwiddieva #virginiaeats #rvaeats #hiddengem #localeats

Giuseppe’s – Dinwiddie-Petersburg, VA 🍝 Stopped by Giuseppe’s in Petersburg and had the lasagnacomfort food done right. The layers were hearty and well-balanced, with tender pasta, rich meat sauce, and just the right amount of cheese holding everything together. It came out hot, flavorful, and clearly made with care, not rushed. A solid, satisfying dish that feels like a classic Italian staple done the traditional way. If you’re in Petersburg and craving something filling and familiar, the lasagna at Giuseppe’s is worth the stop. #cattravels #petersburg #virginia

They slid not one, but two of their sh1tty flyers under my hotel door. I placed an order. It was confirmed. 2 hours later I call and they said my order was canceled because it was out of delivery range and of course, no manager available. Don’t order here if you want dependability, you won’t get it. Even if the reach out to you with solicitation first. I only left one star because it was the lowest rating I could give. They deserve a zero.

If you are looking for authentic Italian food, then do not dine here because you will be disappointed. This restaurant is one trying to pass themselves off as being authentic and/or homemade Italian food, when in truth it's just a privately owned, overrated and inauthentic place to eat if you don't care much about good food. How many authentic Italian restaurants have Jalapeno Poppers or Wings on their menu? I ordered the Homemade Lasagna. I have tasted authentic Lasagna and this is not it. It has a taste of being a grocery store shelf canned sauce with some meat added to it. It had such a bad taste to it that I took only two bites and was done. I took a second bite just to make sure it was as bad as my taste buds thought it was. The salads that came with the meals were a typical "cafeteria style" salad. Nothing notably good about them. The bread that was given to us were garlic knots and tasted like they were frozen and came out of a bag to be heated. Now, the worst part of this visit was what my wife ordered. She ordered the Shrimp Fiorentina. The menu description for this dish is, "Nine (9) Shrimp, sauteed in butter and fresh lemon." Like Shrimp Scampi but without the garlic. My wife did not want spaghetti that it is listed to come with, so she asked for Penne instead. Be prepared to pay an extra $1.99 if you want another pasta with your dish. I have no idea why this is and was not given a reason from the owner when my wife mentioned it to her. Back to the dish...when it was put on the table, the shrimp had a breading on it. You don't have to be a chef to know that if you put any type of breading into a pool of liquid, you are going to get a soggy and inedible mess. The menu description does not mention anything about the shrimp having a coating of any type on it. My wife attempted to remove all of the breading but it was too unpleasant to deal with. Her facial disgust must have been noticeable because the owner came over to the table. My wife, not mixing her words when she is dissatisfied with a meal, went on to tell the owner what was wrong with the dish. The owner did offer to make something else (I will give her that), although her explanation of the shrimp having an "egg wash" on them was ridiculous. Again, you don't have to be a chef to know what an egg wash is and what result it will provide on it's own. Her explanation was insulting. I am upset at myself for not taking a picture of the dish and posting it on here. And, if the female owner happens to read this review, keep in mind that body language is noticeable and it was noticed that you were displeased. I guess she is not the type of owner that likes honest criticism. After waiting approximately 15+ minutes for what was supposed to be a Shrimp Scampi, my wife's replacement meal was bought to the table. She ate it and told the waiter that it was better than the first dish because it was better than the soggy breading mess, but it was entirely too salty. Made her wonder if it was intentional because of how overly salty it was. I want to mention that the owner did not bother to come over to our table to ask how the replacement meal was, nor did she offer to comp the extra $1.99 or any part of my wife's meal. She just sat at a table in view site, looking like she was doing paperwork. That spoke volumes to us both of her professionalism and how she cared about her customers. Needless to say, we will not be returning to Giuseppe's Pizza "Italian" Restaurant. If you are someone that enjoys overrated, yet unpleasant and unappetizing food, then this is the place for you. If you are someone that wants authentic Italian food and does not like to settle for a cheap imitation, then do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. This restaurant really woke us up to not stopping at somewhere that we don't know and made us appreciate even more the actual authentic Italian restaurant that is our favorite, even if it is a distance away....

I am editing this post and with such disappointment to report such utter disrespect and insult from the owner(wife) at this establishment. We've been dining here for a few years and although the service is usually hit or miss, we enjoy going once in a while for the food and drinks. After shotty service with a young waiter and overall young and untrained wait staff, we compromised and were passive in saying anything. We let it go, and continued on. I even ended up asking our waiter to add a shot to my second drink I hesitated in gettingbecausewas it worth the 8.50? Then we ended up having the salad and bread to go since he forgot it. He's young, distracted, We continued and let it go. Now we get the bill and i see two Pina Coloda each for $11!!!!!!!!!! WHAT? So I confronted the owner at check out and asked why it's $11? I conveyed that's almost as much as a Long Island? But when I confronted the owner she had the audacity to not only tell me she charged me for the top shelf (captain) and when I told her I didn't ask for that she replied that's how "they serve it there "and that the rail is 8.50. I said I'm aware and have been coming in for years and that was backwards business and she wouldn't have upset customers if she served rail and let the customer ask for a more expensive brand instead of being surprised on their bill with a higher price than expected. She didn't like being confronted or challenged in how she runs her business apparently because She had the audacity to attempt to insult me again by commenting how "a party was just there that paid 300 for drinks and that they liked them", as if I couldn't afford my bill. No bi* , I just don't like paying for things I didn't ask for. PERIOD! So I said "they must not pay attention and don't mind being robbed". Needless to say she didn't like that. What a horrible experience, completely unprofessional, disrespectful and she was so stuck up. She gave no apology, just "don't come back" after I walked over and tipped the waiter $5 despite the horrible experience. Wasn't the poor kids fault that the owners don't know how to run a proper establishment. Or how to engage in appropriate customer service skills. WHO WOULD WANT TO RETURN? I had to give it 1 star or I wouldn't be able to post this, and feel everyone should know how crude these people are.. and deceitful their initial charm.. so since I have to give a 1 rating, I'll give it to all those poor misfortunate untrained and misguided wait staff for their efforts and the customers for putting up with the crazy. So beyond angry and disappointed with this experience tonight. All I can...

This part July 2023 Update: everything has gone down hill, food, service and atmosphere. Made a reservation for July (not giving date) for a party of 21 and asked for two tables of 12. Girl said we would be fine it held up to 30. Upon my arrival found one long table not the two. On top of that the room was so small 22 which they set the table for was very tight. Myself and one of my wonderful guests Vanessa helped me rearrange the tables. Had a couple extra folks last minute come but the others that didn't show, balanced it out. We were supposed to have two servers just for us but that didn't happen. Not only did I have to pour our drinks but had to pre-bus and bus our tables. One of our waitresses couldn't speak English very well or understand me so she just walked off when trying to get napkins for our tables, which I had to do twice. Most everyone really enjoyed their food and well MY service but my daughter who the dinner party was for and I got sick from our food, not sure if our guest did. We both ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken but her's was boiled and no seasoning cut in tiny cubes and mine looked like they blackened it and cut in strips. The salad had sooo many tomatoes, red onions and cucumbers that we got barely 6 pieces of lettuce. I completely understand that most places are short staffed these days BUT they had 3 girls standing around the cash register while the other 4 waitresses ran their butts off. Our 2 also had other tables in the dining room. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WAIT TABLES AND TAKE CARE OF MY OWN GUEST, BUT I HAD TO!!! It shouldn't be necessary for a customer to have to wait their own tables. I had no time to visit with our guest not even my daughter. We drove 3 hours for this special occasion! I had made the reservation back on June 30, called again on July 1 and again on the 14th. There's no excuse for not having enough waitresses. That's when management and the lazy girls at the register need to step up to the plate and take care of the guest! Shame on you, management! Giuseppe's you got to get it together and never have more than 20 people in that room, WAY to small for more than that!

This part 7 years ago: Best Italian Food within the tri-city hands down. Have always loved the food and service...
