Every time my parents visit, we try to find authentic Filipino food somewhere. I'm glad to finally have found it so near to my home.
We went for our first time, and it was super super hot. My mother was having a tough time. They were super nice, pointing out a small bench where my mom could take a seat in the shade and even gave my mom a cold buko juice while we waited for our order. Sobrang bait naman yung mga tao dito. And when I mentioned we wanted to change our order to to go because my mom was having too hard a time with the heat, she even walked my mom and I to the car to make sure she was okay. Everyone was just so warm and welcoming.
It was a short drive home. The portions are generous, the right ratio of rice to main (ulam). We ordered #1 combo, lechon combo, pakbet, lumpiang shanghai, empanadas, and halo-halo.
Each combo comes with rice and 3 pieces of lumpiang shanghai.
The #1 combo is 4 bbq skewers (choice of chicken or pork). I chose the pork bbq. The sauce was good and it tasted authentic to me (Fil-Am US born and raised), but I did find a few pieces to be kind of tough. Overall, though it was super good.
Lechon combo: my dad ordered this and he felt that it was also authentic but that he wished the skin had been crispier. Not sure if it was because we had the take out boxes closed up while we drove back, so ymmv if you eat it there.
Pakbet: this was not a combo and did not come with rice, but my mom really liked it. She did wish there was a little more sauce, but other than that, again, everything was authentic and delicious.
The halo halo was good, but also melted by the time we got home because of the extreme heat.
The empanadas I saved for last because they were explicitly Puerto Rican style empanadas instead of Filipino style, so they had a completely different flavor profile, which I was warned about when I ordered. I ate them and the special sauce with them and thought they were delicious. Very savory, reminded me a bit of tacos and a spicier, fuller bodied thousand island sauce.
Overall, I will definitely come back again. Thank you very...

I visited a few months ago, when we lived closer to Pflugerville. I was actually very excited to visit. I don’t typically leave bad reviews and try to support local businesses, but what happened to me (and from the other reviews, consistent with a few others) is concerning.
They don’t always update their hours. When you arrive, you might find that they are closed for whatever reason. So the onus is on you to keep up with them by checking their Facebook page.
The first time we visited, they were actually closed because they had a special event. No worries - a mild inconvenience, but we understand. Small operation. We went to Ululani’s to make up for the trip to Round Rock.
The second time, my girlfriend and I called 10 minutes before we arrived, asking if they had pancit palabok. I was interested in trying their food because of the limited options in Austin. The lady on the phone said they had ONE order left, and they would save it for me.
When we arrived, we introduced ourselves and said we called for the pancit palabok. The older lady said she had to check if they still had any left. She went to the back, and we overheard some chatter. She came back to told us they were sold out.
What she didn’t know, is that my girlfriend overhead a worker saying that they saved their last portion for themself in Tagalog.
We were very disappointed with the deception, so we ordered something else. The lechon plate I got was actually not bad, but the overall experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
I held off before leaving a review because I believed it was a one-off situation, but thought to share since it has happened to...
Read moreYammy’s Filipino food truck is hands down the best around! I recently ordered a tray of lumpiang Shanghai and lechon kawali, and I was blown away by how delicious everything was. The lumpiang Shanghai was perfectly crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor on the inside, while the lechon kawali had an irresistible crunch and was incredibly tender and juicy.
The quality of the preparation was phenomenal, clearly reflecting the care and skill that goes into every dish. You can really taste the authentic Filipino flavors and the freshness of the ingredients used. Each bite was a delightful experience that transported me straight to the Philippines.
What truly sets Yammy’s apart, though, is the excellent customer service. The owner was warm, friendly, and attentive, making sure that every customer felt welcomed and satisfied. Their passion for their food and their customers shines through in every interaction.
Overall, I highly recommend Yammy’s Filipino food truck to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious Filipino meal. I will definitely be coming back for more and can’t wait to try other items...
