We came to this town on a Saturday so not much was open. My dad loves steak, I'm a vegetarian so I already knew going to a place called The Steakhouse was not going to have a lot of options for me.
They have a salad bar, if you're vegetarian and you eat here, that is your best option. I wanted something warm because it was a chilly day, but there wasn't much to choose from.
I ordered the onion petals, mashed potatoes, and asparagus.
When it arrived I got onion rings that were burned, hash browns, and asparagus. I'm not sure why I got hash browns instead of mashed potatoes, or why they called onion rings onion petals. Both of those things were disappointing in flavor.
I don't mind hash browns, but it was a little too greasy with the onion rings too.
The asparagus were fantastic, but they told me they were cooked on the grill with the stakes so they aren't truly vegetarian or vegan. If I was to eat here again, I'd get two orders of the asparagus because that was the only food that came out right.
My dad got a steak. He asked for medium rare, but it came out rare. It was the first time I ever saw him put steak sauce on a steak. He said he only does that when the steak is hard to eat.
Some of this is our fault, neither of us told the waitress that the food wasn't correct, so she had no idea that we didn't enjoy our meal.
But I don't think I would come back, there just aren't enough...
Read moreOur experience with The Stakehouse is anything but positive, we were passing through town and we decided to stop for dinner, since we had 4 more hours to drive to get to destination, we were not aware of the fact that it would had taken two full hours for a burger and a fried stake, on a Monday evening. We waited for so long that people around seemed older by the time we left , there was a family with a toddler next to us, and he was a high school teenager by the time our food arrived. It is not ok to hold people hostage for two hours, not telling them that it would take hours even to serve the simplest meal, if they would have told us about the insane amount of waiting we would have walked away immediately and eat somewhere else, we were supposed to arrive to destination at 11pm and thanks to our poor choice of selecting this place for our dinner we arrived at...
Read moreThe night we stopped they had a buffet. Woo-wee! All you could eat salad bar, BBQ ribs, hamburger steaks with mushroom gravy, butter/garlic shrimp, carrots and mashed potatoes & gravy. Fresh rolls. The hamburger steaks were handmade. No preprocessed patties! The ribs were perfect. Soft but still some chew. The shrimp were completely peeled & clean. Cooked just right, not rubbery. The salad bar was fresh & plentiful with a nice selection. $14.95 Can you believe that! They even gave you a mint patty with you bill. This place is a must stop. If I get back to SD again, I'd go out of my way to...
