I've never been emotionally abused by food before. The signs were all there, quite literally, for food they didn't have. Though, that may have been a blessing in disguise, because I imagine the abuse would have became physical as well. Lured in by the promise of shrimp street tacos by their signage, we placed our order only to be gently let down that they put the sings up a day early to get it out of the way. We pressed on and ordered food despite them being very not busy even though the attached truckstop was pretty hopping. The food looked good and made promises that the apparent maleficence was just our imagination, it was a little early for lunch after all. My wife ordered the chicken quesadilla tacos and I the chicken boss burrito. They brought out the food to us which was nice, staff was also really nice. The tacos were barely warm and cheese was not even melted, just two slices of prepackaged cheese sandwiched between tortilla and shell despite what was shown the screen being a hot and gooey mess. The Boss burrito at a glance looked like a good size burrito and for 10 bucks it should. The first thing I noticed as I bit into this promised euphoria was the biting cold of its' insides followed by the distinct lack of fowl. Nowhere inside was there chicken, instead they slipped me their slightly warmer than cold beef directly to my mouth. We couldn't even wash this distilled hate of Mexican cuisine from our poor assaulted taste buds as the drink dispenser woke up that day and chose hate and refused to produce anything resembling pop or lemonade. We didn't send the food back as we had places to be and were on a tight schedule so we didn't give them a chance to correct/apologize for this abuse of food. We were promised taco goodness but instead we...
Read moreI have a nostalgic love for Taco John's that goes back to my days as a student at Ohio University in Athens, which had the only Taco John's in Ohio back in the late 80s and early 90s. My combo meal that I ordered today was fine, but it could have been so much better. Do your homework before going to this location. Study the menu and be very specific about what you want and what you don't want. Like every other restaurant in Ohio, this location is short staffed and there is no use whining about rushed, sub-par service. I'm truly grateful enough employees were available for this location to be up and running, and I know the people working there aren't making what they're worth. Because of COVID, Taco John's cool salsa bar is not available right now. I hope it eventually comes back. My meal was good. The service was fine. This location was clean. For fast food Mexican food from a truck stop, it is wonderful. I'll be back. My heart belongs to Taco John's Athens location, but this one gets my vote over del Taco and Taco Bell if I'm in...
Read moreBeen to this location several times for gas but never bothered eating at the Taco Johns restaurant. Being a restaurant inside a gas station I didn’t have any expectations, especially not high ones. Well tonight my wife and I decided to try Taco Johns for the first time. After explaining to the lady taking our order who was very friendly that we’d never ate here before, she helped explain a few things on the menu and allowed us to look it over. My wife decided to get the soft taco with a side of their chicken, bacon, ranch potato oles and a soft taco. I got their Super Nachos. Allow me to say I was SHOCKED when the food came out hot and super fast. When we sat down to eat our food, I was AMAZED by the flavor of the nachos and my wife was as well and we were both amazed by the flavor of the potato oles. If you’re ever passing through this area and stop into Loves, I highly recommend trying Taco Johns. They have Taco Bell beat by a...
