Perfect seasoned whole wings. (Top tier.) The locals tell legends of the wings at Willees, which is something you hear repeatedly across every small town in Western Pennsylvania, but rarely does the local flavor live up to the hype. Willees does! Upon first inspection, the wings did not look like they had enough seasoning. Before even taking a bite, I noted to ask for extra seasoning when I ordered again. But, after a couple wings, I realized they had exactly the correct amount of seasoning. These were delicious! Outside crisp and crunchy. Inside juicy. Very little oil left on the wings. Their fryer oil must be very fresh and clean. No fish flavor in the wings so they are keeping fryers separate. Wings were all large, no small hidden wings in the 1½ dozen we purchased. They are not the only place to offer perfect whole wings in all of Western Pennsylvania; I can think of about six other places that perform at this level. But, you won't find anywhere better, either.

Fantastic place. My dad remembers it from his childhood, and while it's not exactly the same, it's still excellent. Massive cod/shrimp. Great fries that stay crispy. Great appetizers. Service was good, and the whole place certainly suited the food and its quality.

Awesome tavern with outstanding food!! Great atmosphere there are sound pads on the ceilings so you can actually hear the people at your table. Very impressed and I will return soon. The broiled fish was excellent as was their beef soup.

Been coming here for about 20 years. Place has changed over the years, as everything does in life, but for the most part it has remained the same familiar Western Pennsylvania Dive Bar that the locals love. Their major claim to fame is their fish sandwich--lightly seasoned cod is deep fried and thrown on a bun and always served with tartar sauce... And my family (who I'd be referring to as the locals--I myself have never lived in Wexford, just spent plenty of time here because of relatives) .. er .. the locals.. would paint on the largest piece of fish on a sandwich that you've ever seen in your life.. seriously and I'm talking about the small! The large is literally a foot of fish and here's where my uncle would (every time) roller-brush on literally a gallon of tartar sauce on the sandwich. And as it drips from the sandwich my brother and I are forced to keep an embarrassed chuckle from finding it's way to the surface with reprixuasions to follow.. That's one of my favorite Willees Tavern stories of all time. Maybe was 10 years ago. So tonight sat at the table with my beautiful wife and my "Mimi" — my Mom's Mother that raised her three kids in Wexford. Mimi informed us tonight that the famous fish sandwich is all that she's ever ordered for the 40 years she's been coming here... That's some serious trust. I myself have had one too many fish foot longs and ordered a cheese steak sandwich that was actually really REALLY good. My wife enjoyed the chicken parmesan--waitress recommended anything with the mozzarella sauce--which ended up being pretty damn good as well. After the meal, decaf coffee was thrown on simply to our request with real f** cream. And the owner came by to say hello to Mimi and thank her for the many continued years of loyalty. All that being said, my favorite thing was all the little things that you don't get from a restaurant in Denver, in fact most places. It's a dive bar in Western Pennsylvania that has an amazing atmosphere. The waitress was very courteous and knew exactly what was good on the menu as well as what SHE actually ate after work, but wasn't afraid to tell us what may not be the best choice depending on our likings that we had described to her briefly. The cream was REAL with some curd on the top of the rim. Won't find that at many places in town even if you go looking for it... And lastly, the fact that a business can remain in business since 1933 (I think) and keep it's same good old feel/fashioned values and morals, yet continue to remodel and keep up with the times, all while offering the same delicious food that makes it very clear how and why this Western Pennsylvania Dive Bar shack remains around. The shack that most people would drive right passed and instead find a disgusting plate of food from 'Upscale Flares, Flakes, And Fakes' place just because the latest up and coming artist-of-the-day received a payout wider than the pay gap of it's employees tweeted their followers to check it out... I'll be back to the shack next time I'm in town, and I highly recommend taking time out of your day to leave the suit and tie at Hyde Park, bring one or two people you love, and enjoy somewhere that really cares about their reputation of home-made food, their loyal customers, and have continued to show me over and over why my family and I continue to visit this restaurant if I'm anywhere near...

After helping a friend all day I was asked to go down the street to Willie's for a beer. Anyone that knows me, I don't go to bars & drink then drive home. So, I said ok figured I'd grab a fish sandwich & take home to watch the presidential debate. Walking in we see a mutual friend & his wife there so I buy a round of beers (4) and ordered my fish sandwich to go. $28, I give her $35...$7 tip. I finished my beer and my friend bought me another so before I finished 2nd beer I dig into my sandwich. Ate only half because now the debate starts. My friends get up t o leave & I said I'm going to sit & watch debate, they leave. With 2" of beer left in my bottle I asked for another beer, would be my 3rd & figured I'd eat the rest off my sandwich on the way home, owners daughter said,I don't think so, pardon me? I don't feel comfort selling you another beer! I almost started to laugh asking if there was a 2 beer limit! She said, I been doing this a long time and I can tell. Tell what I said. I been working all day came here had one beer, 3/4s of my second beer with my half sandwich and your shutting me off? THEN, she says since I just got done working I'll sell you another. WHAT? No thanks, grabbed my stuff and left! The owner was there hanging out with us after he ate saying how tough business is & not making money.. I wonder why! I called my friend walking out the door & told him she wouldn't serve me & laughed in disbelief then told me she did the same to the couple that got there just before us! I had no idea she did that or I would have left with them.. Sorry Ron, lost a customer. Quite a few actually. Isn't the first establishment I seen handed down to the kids ending with a for sale sign...

Ordered Two fish dinners $19 each and 4 beers $2 each the bartender rung my dinners up as a fish sandwich with slaw and side of fries so a total of $5 extra dollars on my bill which was $57 and some change. I told the other bartender that it was rung in wrong and she said well thats what the bartender had written down and she cant change it, so I said im not paying until its fixed and of course the other bartenders shift was over, so finally the bartender got tired of me arguing with her and went and changed it with an attitude, now mind you I had a whole beer and a half so im know where near drunk, and not even buzzed and I get my new check and it now says fish dinners and 4 beers but somehow its still $57 and some change. Somehow a $19 dinner turned into a $25 dinner. I wasnt drunk and im not stupid. Ive been here many times and loved it and I'm sorry but you are now another place I'll never go back to. If you have to screw people to make money then I will put you on the list with other places that were better than your...
