Hysyde Lounge — Restaurant in Pittsburgh

This review comes from someone who lives nearby but has not yet patronized the lounge. I just want to give a shout-out to Nate who works here. He is always working hard. When I am out picking up litter nearby I see him sweeping the curb/sidewalk areas around the lounge of cups and cigarette butts and debris to help keep the neighborhood spiffy.

Only suggestion would be to maybe add a full-size trash can somewhere closer to the corner of the building. They have one small trash can by the front door and then dumpsters for employee-use only, so some patrons might dump items on the ground by their cars because they can't find a trash can on their way out.

I do like that it looks like they are expanding to add some sort of front porch or patio (maybe sidewalk seating for nice days)? Seeing how crushed this place is after noon on Sundays shows that their brunch must be the bomb!

It is important to support Black-owned and -operated/-staffed businesses in a city that has been dealing with gentrification issues. As a neighbor I am happy to have this business in our neighborhood. It is nice to have a "bar" that is not just some smoky dive but rather a place with good food and decor as well.

I hope to be able to order some food to-go soon. The egg rolls and fries look killer! Give Nate a raise, too, for being friendly...

Went for the first time a month ago. My Peach Long Island was good and I got a nice buzz from it. My boyfriend said his drink was strong. So one thing that they don't do here, us make weak drinks. Now ...moving on to the wings. We ordered 12. Any other bar, that I frequent, on my side of town (I live on the East), when u order 12 wings, you get 12 whole wings. Well, much to our surprise, we opened the box and there sat 12 WING DINGS. We were hungry and disappointed. So just know you'll be getting wings dings when u order your wings from here. The wing dings were also way way way too salty. The cook drowned our wings in wing dust. My boyfriend ate three and gave me the rest because he didn't want to stroke out. I'm not saying we won't go back, but when and if we do, we will ask that they go light on the wing dust. Overall it was an ok experience. My first time visiting this bar/lounge was a great experience. Me and my girl actually went during happy hour unknowingly and whoop whoop my drink( Tito’s) was on the happy hr special which was a plus!!!! So we decided to order food and man oh man the seafood egg rolls was to die for !!!! However our flavored wings came out a little salty but not so much we couldn’t eat them.. the cook came out and asked how our food was and we gave him the details but really didn’t complain…. He insisted he remake our chicken, we didn’t really want him to do that cause it wasn’t that bad , again he insisted and didn’t take NO FOR AN ANSWER… long story short the wings came out great the second time and come to find out he was the one of the OWNERS… He was so humble and really didn’t mind remaking our food ..not only that he gave us some garlic parm cheese fries for the wait (sooooo good)!!! I say all this to say WE WILL BE BACK...
