This is not a fancy place at all, but I loved the feeling. Red, white, and blue decorations along with old-time kitchen or breakfast pictures on the wall. Booths, tables, and a counter. I ordered steak and eggs, grilled English Muffin (out of pumperknickle), and added home fries. That was prior to 12:40.
I was alone. A couple who came in after me ordered a burger, fries, and I don't know what else and were served well ahead of me. Hmm. My meal came just after 1:00 with an uncooked English Muffin. The waitress brought that back and it came back cooked perfectly. 👍The over easy eggs were okay, and the strip steak, nice and thick, was cooked rare as requested. Yum. Glad I ordered it. The only disappointment was the home fries I added. So BURNED. It looked like they were deep fried, overdone, and I got all the burnt bits in the basket dumped on the plate. I separated what was edible and they weren't bad. They included diced onion (black), which I like (onions with the potatoes). I didn't have my phone, or I'd have taken a picture. When the waitress took my plate, she asked how everything was, and I told her. She said they were cooked on the grill crispy because "that's how people ask for them." Not me. There is a discount for paying with cash. At the front counter, you can also purchase rice pudding or slices of pie and cake to go. If I'm ever back in the area (first time in the Berkshires for me), I would not hesitate to dine here again. There is a very large lunch menu, and the list of desserts keeps running through my...
Read moreStopped by for breakfast around 10 am a couple of days ago. The place was still packed. Put quite simply, it was wonderful, clean, with all of the right aromas hitting you when walking in the door. We were lucky to score a booth after a short wait while the (only) waitress/hostess prepared our table. We did notice that in our time there, people were quite slow in leaving and seemed to linger well after their meals were done. Maybe due to the atmosphere, or the understaffed(but very hard working) crew. May just be a sign of post COVID troubles plaguing the industry, but the place could certainly use more staff to help with the customer turnover. Enough of that, the food was great. My wife had a standard breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns, toasted english and sausage. I decided to go for broke and get the pastrami reuben. Both were spot on, the reuben being one of the best I've ever had, and I've had many. Would definitely recommend the place and will be back. Be patient, it's all well worth the wait. I saw some comments relating to pricing. In my opinion the pricing was very fair for the exceptional quality of the...
Read moreSo on a weekend away I looked up nice diners in the area… this one seemed like a great fit. We went in got seated and then waited to get our order taken. Took a while. Then we order get our food. We weren’t offered a drink refill. We weren’t asked if everything was going well. We finished and waited a good 25 mins for our check. It was so uncomfortable that the other waitresses asked if we were waiting for a check. We said yes and they proceeded to seat people looking at us with the I don’t know what’s going on look. The food was terrible the waitress was awful thankfully I’ll probably never be in the Berkshires again to have to go tho this place. The owner whoever you are… your waitress was horrendous. Good thing about the Berkshires was the food in Lenox was dynamite. So...
