My partner and I had a ghastly experience here last night. We traveled from Albany, NY, to hear a band that was playing upstairs at the Lodge and decided to have dinner there beforehand. The place was extremely crowded and incredibly noisy; we decided to have dinner at the bar, although we had a 6:45 PM reservation for a table; the hostess said that was fine. We felt this would give us plenty of time to get upstairs to hear the band, which was slated to begin at 8 PM. By 7:50, we had not yet been served our dinner, despite having ordered only minutes after we sat down. The bartender served me a glass of wine, and proceeded to walk away (for good) and never ask my partner if he would like a drink as well. We had to flag down another bartender and ask for his drink. After about an hour of not yet receiving our food order, we began to glance at the bartender anxiously, as we didn’t want to miss the show. She had the manager check for our meals, who, minutes before showtime arrived with our plates. I had ordered the mushroom ravioli, and it was so unappealing to look at before even taking a bite. It was served in a bowl completely submerged in about 4 inches of melted butter and cheese. I attempted to pull out the ravioli with a fork, and it fell immediately apart. I tried to scrape off some of the sludge and eat a bit, as I had to eat something. I pointed it out to the bartender and asked her if she would eat it, and she said no. She got the manager, but proceeded to run our credit card at the full price. The manager, who agreed it was not acceptable, brought it back to the kitchen, and came back and told the bartender to comp the meal. I was eating fries off my partner’s plate for dinner. The manager then walked away for about 10 more minutes and nothing happened. We were missing the show, and I still had no dinner. I finally asked the bartender what was happening and she said the manager was working on it. When the manager finally returned, instead of comping my meal or offering anything else, she said she could not comp anything because the card had already been run, and gave us a gift card to order drinks and food at the venue upstairs where the band was playing. First, we were driving, and had no intention of ordering more drinks. Second, we saw no food being served anywhere upstairs, nor did we see any servers or people eating at the tables. What we had planned as a nice overnight trip to Pittsfield was ruined by such a terrible experience, from the service, to the food quality, to the way the debacle was handled. We paid full price for our meals, and I had to raid the hotel vending machines when we returned as I was starved. It’s my fervent belief that regardless of how little time the restaurant had been reopened, or the size of the crowd, a restaurant should be prepared accordingly, and not make excuses to patrons looking forward to a nice experience and spending their hard-earned...
Read more4/2322 Drove 2.5 hours to meet elderly relatives for dinner @4:30pm. We’re there for view. Seated at opening to restrooms and place was empty. Asked for table with view. That was the only good part of the experience. Coming from Boston area found prices ridiculously outrageous, come on … $40.00 for a NY sirloin that was barely an inch thick (if that) and fatty. I ordered it “medium rare but more on the rare side (allowing for most likely over cooking) and it was over cooked. Sent it back. The other elderly couple ordered their filet well done and it looked like it came from a burnt out building, but they are afraid of meat so … they didn’t care. My second steak came out raw. Sent it back. Ordered shrimp. Owner came out and screamed at me! So loudly … “We cooked you two steaks…. blah blah … I will comp this entire table!” I told her “Not necessary, but everyone is already finished and obviously no one can grill a steak”. Then the shrimp comes out much later and we have it packed up. I need another terrible tasting Martini which at this point comprised my dinner except for some chips and dip, and fried mozzarella. Wow. Everyone is onto dessert. The waitress was new, but lovely. The manager was very nice. The owner should stay in her office. For another $15.00 I could get a fabulous, real deal NY sirloin back home. What was served looked like it came from a local grocery store. My buddy was happy with his shrimp. I wouldn’t dare eat my take home. Overpriced, don’t order meat … unless you want overdone, poor quality for an outrageous price. Enjoy the view and appetizers. Otherwise it’s a...
Read moreWe really wanted to like this place because of the view. However several visits were disappointing for one reason or another.
Today was the final straw and we won’t be back.
We ordered the flank steak with sun dried tomatoe pesto sauce and onion rings. Also the chicken almondine with glazed carrots. Both $25 with no salad.
After an hour and fifteen minute wait with no one asking if we wanted another drink, our meal came.
My wife’s steak didn’t have the pesto sauce nor the onion rings like it was listed on the menu. When my wife pointed it out, the waitress was like ‘aren’t those sun dried tomatoes and ya your right there aren’t any onion rings’. Well where is the pesto sauce? And shouldn’t you have noticed the lack of onion rings before serving the meal? Who is doing quality control? She goes back and literally brings out pesto with a sun dried tomatoe on top. It wasn’t a sauce at all. And instead of onion rings she brings out French fries and said they were out of onion rings. What about offering an alternative of choices without just assuming French fries would do? My chicken almondine had barely and sauce of it and I needed to request more. And the chicken was dry. Also no glazed carrots. It was zucchini which I don’t like.
You would think they would of comped a drink or something to make it right. Nope.
I wish I could say this was our first bad experience and they had an off night, but that is not the case.
This place is good for a beer with a good view....
