My husband & I found an Italian restaurant in Pittsfield called Zucchini’s. We had gone somewhere else in Pittsfield and they were being totally rude to us because of my service dog. I mean ridiculously obnoxious, so we left. It was the best decision we made because from there we went to Zucchini’s!! Zuccini’s was awesome! It was a meal we were happy to be paying for and at the same time the prices were very fair. Too often we go out to dinner and we leave feeling hungry, disappointed, overcharged, and knowing I could have made it better at home. Additionally important to me, is they never blinked an eyelash at my service dog.
At Zucchini’s, they actually know how to cook Italian!! They make their own pasta, their own sausage, and they use SAN MARZANO tomatoes for red sauces and pizza!! I can’t remember the last time we went to a restaurant that used SAN MARZANO tomatoes. They make all the difference in the world.
The dining room was nice and warm, we were seated next to a window and it was still cozy and warm. I hate going out to eat and feeling like I need to keep my jacket on, or stuff it against the window.
There was a mixture of lettuce for the salad without any hearts and zero rust spots on the lettuce, multiple pieces of nice ripe tomatoes, and the ENGLISH cucumber pieces were peeled. Their homemade white balsamic dressing was good and there was plenty of dressing on the salad. The bread that came with salad was homemade, served with salted butter rounds. It was nice not to see little plastic packets.
I had the Margherita pizza. They must use a high gluten flour for the pizza and bread, because it was light and soft and hand stretched. It was cooked in a wood fired brick pizza oven. It was so nice not to have overworked tough pizza dough. The roasted garlic was actually roasted not just sautéed or overcooked but actually caramelized, so sweet and good. The fresh mozzarella must be of good quality because there was no grease on the pizza. I didn’t even have to use any napkins to soak up any grease. Often restaurants and pizza shops use cheap cheeses and you end up with puddles of fat on your pizza, not here!
My husband’s chicken parm was hand pounded breaded, it was a very good size and it was not American sized. I really dislike seeing plates that are twice the size of a normal plate with food falling off it being brought out to customers. In my opinion, especially in New England, people feel that the cost of their meal makes them entitled to, not just the meal they ordered and ate but at least one more to bring home. It’s a ridiculous conception. His meal was a VERY heavy portion that filled his plate but, was still for 1 person, not three. He said it was fantastic.
We had creme brûlée for dessert. It was soooo good.
The drink prices were literally half of what we’ve been spending at other restaurants in the area.
I can’t say enough good about the place. I think I sure have...
Read moreWent on a Thursday evening not at all busy, even stated by the hostess. Sat in bar area it did seem a little "upscale" even though it says casual dining. The table was wooden and with that probably hard to keep "clean" because it was very sticky over the entire table. Our waitress was pleasant but did not seem to know the menu well. We ordered after receiving our drinks. Our appetizer, the fried zucchini came out after what seemed like a very long time for a place not being busy. I must say I can make better at home. We finished then she brought out bread for the table, which was very delicious but served with frozen butter packets. Our meals came out a while after we finished off the bread. We got the special, pork shoulder which was very good. The shrimp & scallops in oil and basil and the Verdue wood fired pizza. Both of those were drenched in oil. So much so the pasta was basically floating in it. Our waitress was very unaware of our needs at the table even though she went by many times. Never asked if we were interested in desert. So I asked for a box and the check because it was getting late. Overall the meal was overpriced and underwhelming. Not a place I would return if in...
Read moreService was great! Meat balls were flavorless, Eggplant stack was extremely greasy (seems as if the grease was not hot enough when cooked) when forked down to split grease just spilled out of the eggplant and there was no crunch. Salad was GREAT. Then we ordered the BBQ Pizza and chicken marsala and the seafood with pasta dish. Im not sure if the the food was not fired correctly and the food was left in the window for a while but when the main course came out it was lukewarm the veggies (which was broccoli rabe carrots and potatoes fingerlings) was not fully cooked and the seafood on the pasta was chewy I told the server she said that they could warm it up for us but I did want are meal put in a microwave. Also the mushrooms on the marsala were caned. The Pizza CRUST THOUGHHHHHH JUST WOW amazing yummy and I tried that when I got home we left early before eating desert (it was our cheat day from dieting so we were sharing everything on the table) took it home and fed it to the animals. Also the pasta was SUPER dry. FOOD not good -the pizza chianti that we tasted that was open straight vinegar. I had eaten here before and it was great...
