Time for a break. The quality has absolutely plummeted. Out of our last three visits to Poor Thom's, all three were bad. On the first trip, we sat outside and found 5 ticks crawling around our table and one on one of our plates. Never sitting outside again. The second time we sat on the porch and they messed up three of our orders in a party of 4. The food quality was poor and it was clear they were trying to cut costs and cut back. Which I get it, but they have cut too much. We assumed it was a new inexperienced chef. The third and more recent time was last night. Again our orders were wrong and once we received the correct orders, one was completely inedible. We brought it to the waitstaff's attention, they asked the owner to stop by our table. The owner was rude and patronizing. I know you can't please everyone, but you are supposed to try. I think it will be a long time before we even consider going back. We have been going there for years. And especially during the pandemic, I would sometimes tip 50-100% in hopes of helping a little bit. Our bills are always well over $150 every time. And the fact that the owner, aside from being rude, chose not to spend $5 in food costs to fire up another plate just lost him and his staff a lot more. Definitely do not recommend...
Read moreI'm staying nearby Thoms and have had a couple of dinners there. The atmosphere at the bar is very friendly and inviting. While they are currently out of the crispy duck for the poutine that are so well known for, I had the poutine minus the duck and it was fantastic! I ordered the Chicken Marsala for take out last night and I received a wonderful grilled chicken breast over pasta in an unseasoned Alfredo sauce with mushrooms added. Not my idea of Chicken Marsala but I added salt and pepper and it was okay. Also ordered the fried potato skins with bacon added for $2.00 additional. There were a few bacon bits on each of the three potato skins. Not $2.00 worth of added bacon. Even with surge pricing. I was slightly disappointed. But the take out order fed me and for that I am grateful. Remember to add some salt and pepper and spice...
Read moreI'm a Plainfield resident and have loved having a restaurant in town. My complaint is that the service is awful. We went for the brunch today, Aug. 13th, I ordered the Eggs Benedict. My muffin was burnt black. I showed it to the waitress and she offered to bring me another muffin. We'd already waited a half hour for our meal so I declined. She said she would tell the kitchen. Good enough but something like that should have never come out of the kitchen. We've been to three brunches and probably 10 dinners since they opened and the service has been slow every time. We keep going back because of convenience and mostly the food...
